Your project budget can dictate the design of your condominium.

We spoke to two local interior designer firms about their stunning iterations of 1300 sq ft condominiums. Amorphous Design and Box Design Studio filled us in on the finer details of both their projects, giving us a breakdown of budget and design.

Budget: RM 60,000



Project:J+S Residence

Interior Designer: Amorphous Design Sdn Bhd

Condominium Size: 1383 sq ft

Rooms: 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms

Interior Style: Minimalistic Scandinavian home

Work Done:

  • Kitchen: Upgrade of existing cabinets, plaster ceiling, wiring, lighting, painting, and curtains.
  • Master Bedroom: Wardrobe, plaster ceiling, wiring, lighting, painting, and curtains.
  • Kids’ Bedroom & Playroom: Plaster ceiling, wiring, lighting, painting, and roller blinds.
  • Living & Dining Room: Feature wall, coloured glass, plaster ceiling, wiring, lighting, painting, and curtains.
  • Entryway: Powder-coated grill, shoe cabinet, wiring, and lighting.

Cost Breakdown:

  • Carpentry: RM20,000
  • Ceiling: Rm10,000
  • Painting & Other Works: RM10,000
  • Wiring & Lighting: RM10, 000
  • Curtains: RM8,000

Most Expensive Feature: Living room and dining room

Least Expensive Feature: Kids’ Bedroom & playroom

Interior Designer:Box Design Studio

Condominium Size: 1300 sq ft

Rooms: 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms

Interior Style: Modern Contemporary home

Work Done:

  • Kitchen: Kitchen base and wall cabinets, transforming yard into wet kitchen, tiling, painting, plumbing and piping, plaster ceiling, wiring and lighting.
  • Living room: TV feature wall and display cabinet, plaster ceiling, wiring, lighting and painting.
  • Entryway: Shoe cabinets and storage unit, wiring, plaster ceiling, and painting.
  • Bedroom: Bed headboard, wardrobe, study table, dressing table, plaster ceiling, painting, wiring, and lighting.
  • Bathrooms: Basin cabinets, mirror cabinets, wiring, and lighting.

Cost Breakdown:

  • Tiling: RM3000.
  • Wiring: RM12000
  • Painting: RM6500
  • Plaster Ceiling: RM7000
  • Carpentry: RM95000
  • Plumbing: RM3500
  • Lighting: RM5000

Most Expensive Feature: Living Room and Kitchen.

Least Expensive Feature: Bathrooms.
