UEM Sunrise and Mulpha International continue their commitment to enhance infrastructure in Iskandar Puteri

30 August, ISKANDAR PUTERI – UEM Sunrise Berhad (UEMS Sunrise), one of Malaysia’s leading property developers, and Mulpha International Berhad (Mulpha Internationl), a diversified conglomerate, continue their commitment to enhance infrastructure for the community of Iskandar Puteri with the groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the commencement of construction on the new Gerbang Nusajaya Interchange, today.

Held at the Melia Residences Club House, the Gerbang Nusajaya Interchange groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by YAB Dato’ Haji Osman Bin Haji Sapian, Chief minister of Johor accompanied by Mr. Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib, Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of UEM Sunrise and Eric Lee. Executive Director of Mulpha International. More than 500 guests attended the event which includes community leaders, representatives of local authorities, members of the media and nearby residents.

The Gerbang Nusajaya Interchange is strategically located within the 4,551 acres in Gerbang Nusajaya – the gateway to Iskandar Malaysia that is set to become the commercial and business engine of Iskandar Puteri, commanding an estimated gross development value (GDV) of RM42 billion.

In 2014, UEM Sunsrise and Mulpha International inked a Collaboration Agrement through its respective subsidiaries, Nusajaya Rise Sdn bhd (NRSB) and Leisure Farm Corporation Sdn Bhd (Leisure Farm Corporation) to build three sets of roadworks valued at RM162 million to build new roads, a new trumpet interchange and upgrade existing roads in Gelang Patah and Gerbang Nusajaya.

The three sets of roadworks are as follow:

Roadworks 1: Connecting Gelang Patah to both Gerbang Nusajaya and Leisure Farm, by upgrading the existing JKR J4 state road form two-lanes to dual two-lanes, constructing a new dual three-lane road which links up with the Second Link Highway.

Roadworks 2: Connecting Leisure Farm to the Second Link Highway, by upgrading the existing JKR J4 State road from two-lane to dual two-lane;

Roadworks 3: Constructing a new trumpet interchange (named as Gerbang Nusajaya Interchange) connecting the Second Link Highway (enabling travel in all directions).

All roadworks are targeted for completion by end of year 2020.

According to Mr. Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib, Managing Director/ CEO of UEM Sunrise, “As the master developer of Iskandar Puteri, we are very pleased that the Gerbang Nusajaya Interchange will crate an enchanced transport ecosystem around Gerbang Nusajaya and Iskandar Puteri, further enchancing the ease of travel for commuters. With its proximity to the Tuas Checkpoint and the central Singapore CBD within easy reach, Gerbang Nusajaya Interchange will put Iskandar Puteri on the map as the largest fully integrated urban development in Southeast Asia. Gerbang Nusajaya Interchange is also a strong indication of our commitment to supporting the Johor State government in properlling Iskandar Puteri’s economic development in the region.”

UEM Sunrise has commenced construction works in Gerbang Nusajaya since 2014, and the development is expected to span over a period of 25 years. Upon completion, an estimated 76,000 direct jobs offerings and 137,000 indirect job offerings will be created, and Gerbang Nusajaya is expected to become home to a population of 220,000 people.

“Mulpha International via its wholly owned subsidiary Leisure Farm Corporation, is proud to pnce again collaborate with UEM Sunrise on another infrastructure project that will enhance the road network and connectivity in the vicinity of Leisure Farm for the benefit of the general commuting public in Johor as well as Leisure Farm residents. In fact, it wil be a huge boon to Leisure Farm residents as it will enable them to bypass Gelang PAtah town thereby reducing their travel time in and out of Leisure Farm by 15 minutes, virtually putting Leisure Farm on the doorstep of Singapore,” added Eric Lee, Executive Director of Mulpha International.

Gerbang Nusajaya has been planned and designed to be a sustainable development with catalytic enchantments strategically introduced in the area to support its transformation in to a thriving and vibrant destination to work, live and play. These catalytic enchantments include components such as various residential precincts, namely Melia Residences; Nusajaya Tech Park – light to medium industrial parks; FastTrackcity – motorsports & lifestyle and many more.
