22 July, PETALING JAYA – Transport Ministry is bringing back the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad’s (KTMB) express commuter service between Seremban and Kuala Lumpur.
Its minister Anthony Loke said the service which was cancelled several ago, will be available on July 25 and it is expected to provide the public with an efficient travel option for those commuting between the two destinations.
“The reinstatement of the commuter service was among the many issues the ministry had discussed with KTMB during a meeting a month ago and during that meeting all of us agreed to resume the service as train users between the two destinations have increase tremendously.
“We believe that the reintroduction of the train service will benefits those that travel between Seremban and Kuala Lumpur on daily bases,” he said during a press conference after launching the DAP Seremban’s parliamentary and DUN Lobak constituencies service centre today.
Loke added that once the train service is available on Wednesday, the service from Seremban would be available on weekeday morning and will be making one stop at Nilai station prior to proceeding to KL Sentral.
“This train service is expected to leave the Seremban station around 7.08am and the journey to Nilai station will take approximately 17 minutes, and the train is to arrive at the KL Sentral station at 8.19am.
“Whereas for the K Sentral – Seremban leg, the train will leave the station at 5.55pm and reach Nilai station at 6.50pm before arriving at Seremban station at 7.10pm,” he said.
Loke mentioned that his ministry will look into plans to provide the express commuter services in other locations.
“However, we need to look into KTMB’s capacity before this can be done.
“As for the services’ punctuality, my ministry will monitor the situation with KTMB and we have requested them to submit reports to the ministry,” he said.
