KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 – Mah Sing Group Berhad bagged the Malaysia Best Employer Brand Awards 2017 for the 3rd consecutive year, cementing its status as one of the country’s most trusted brands in the industry.
The winners were selected by the Employer Branding Institute (EBI), which connects senior leaders in the human resource sector. The award is organised by the World HRD Congress and endorsed by the Asian Confederation of Businesses.
Empowering Staff
Mah Sing’s Group Managing Director, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong Hoy Kum commented on the win, “We are honoured to receive such a distinguished accolade. This award highlights the success of our recent group-wide transformation and in line with our tagline “Reinvent Spaces. Enhance Life”. In all that we do, our focus is enhancing the lives of our customers, our stakeholders and especially our people. This award is a testament of our efforts throughout the years as we work towards providing a conducive working environment for our people.”
To focus on empowering staff towards personal and professional growth, the Group introduced its POWER statement which stands for Performance First, Ownership, Well-Being, Empowerment and Resourcefulness. The new employee value statement will form part of the Group’s continuous learning programme to train employees and uphold the company’s values.

With more than 900 people in the company, the Group continues to instil a culture of continuous improvement. In 2016 alone, Mah Sing has invested more than 18,000 hours of training to help our employees develop their full potential,” said Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong Hoy Kum.
As an example of commitment to the cause, Mah Sing introduced its management training programme – the LEAD Programme (Leadership, Excellence, Advancement, and Development) that provides a solid platform for potential leaders of the company. To date, the group has completed 4 batches of LEAD Project and produced 70 top graduates.
Developing a more conducive work environment
The Group also believes in work life balance. Mah Sing Sports Club, the outdoor organising committee of the Group works towards promoting work-life integration whereby weekly activities are arranged for employees’ enjoyment to promote social interaction as well as team spirit. In 2016, Mah Sing Sports Club have organised a Bowling Tournament, Movie Day, Paintball Competition, ACKU Charity Run and many more which all have garnered overwhelming responses from the employees.
As a responsible developer, Mah Sing involves its team in CSR initiatives to lend a helping hand to those in need. Under the Mah Sing Foundation, a number of Mah Sing staff volunteer themselves to join in CSR activities such as the Liter of Light project that saw the installations of sustainable light around the orang asli village in Cameron Highlands as well as collaborating with EPIC Homes that saw the completion of a 650 square feet house for an orang asli family in Kampung Serendah.
Currently, the Group is renovating its headquarters which is also known as MS@Work. The new office will features various modern layouts that appeal to millennials such as open space concept, fun meeting rooms, collaborative breakout areas and colourful pantries to encourage a more innovative mindset and conducive work environment.
