A beach is a common symbol in a lot of our getaways. We may slog at our daily jobs and routines in a concrete jungle, but in between all that hustle and bustle, we’d retreat to one of nature’s most enriching wonders to wind down and relax.

Most of us would have watched TV shows with characters who live on beachfront properties or home improvement TV shows which features houses with a beach/sea view – something we never considered as a possibility in our ordinary lives. The idea that you can get out to your balcony and take in the morning sea breeze just before you head out to work seems too idyllic, almost too good to be true in fact.

Well, as it turns out, living on a beachfront/seaside property in Malaysia is not just a fantasy. It is entirely possible to live out your days next to a beach and not be too detached from the city’s hustle and bustle. Malaysia’s many popular seaside towns and cities, such as Penang and Port Dickson can offer interested parties some breezy options.

If you’ve entertained the idea of living on a beachfront property, here are some considerations for you to start off with:

1. Tanjung Beach, Penang

At the same time, Tanjung Beach in Penang offers residents a beach view and the benefits of living in an extremely low-density development (just 30 units in total housed in a single block) and more importantly, it is located just a short walk away from the beach. As far as amenities go, Tanjung Beach is about 7 minutes to Dalat International School by foot and is situated just a walk away from a bus station and a wet market.

Design of units vary and size range from between 2,500 to 5,000 sq ft per unit. Rental starts from as low as RM3,800 a month while purchase prices start from RM1.55 million.

2. By The Sea, Penang

By The Sea offers you a chance to live in the lap of modern luxury while taking in the full scope of nature’s beauty.

Comprising of just 138 units of beach view homes across 3 blocks, the sizes of units vary from 1,027 sq ft to penthouses at 3,012 sq ft. Rental prices starts from a chunky RM3,900 while if you are more interested in purchasing, prices start from a cool RM1.7 million

The relatively higher price is partly also due to the luxurious facilities the development itself offers like a gym by the river, a jogging track and a beachside tree house. This is before we even get to the easy beach access, which is just a stone’s throw away.

Besides that, residents need not fret about the traffic and parking situation at the social hub of Batu Ferringhi because it’s just a short walk away – with a host of cafes, pubs and restaurants – easily accessible by foot. One will not have to compromise between the energy of a city and the peacefulness of beach-living because By The Sea has literally the best of both worlds.
