Kampung Baru Ampang, Ampang

There are many pre-war buildings along Jalan Ampang. The Eng Choon Assembly Hall near Jalan Ampang is an example of a building built in the 1930s. The internal structure was rebuilt to support the height of the building from the inside. Eu Tong Sen , a prominent businessman in the early 1900s, built a villa in 1935 on Jalan Ampang [ 2 ] . The same site where the villa was located was used by the British Government as a military training ground. Later, over a long period, the villa building was renovated and reopened as the National Art Gallery on 27 August 1958 [ 3 ] [ 4 ] and over time the site was converted into the Malaysian Tourism Centre (MATIC) Ampang next to the Saloma Bistro Restaurant [ 5 ] . Eu Tong Sen also owned his own tin mine in Ampang where his tin mine was the first mine of its era to use an electric generator in 1914 [ 6 ] .

In March 1896, the Selangor Turf Club, which held horse racing events, was once the most popular place to visit in Ampang until it was demolished on 1 March 1997 to make way for the construction of the Petronas Twin Towers [ 7 ] [ 8 ] .
