PETALING JAYA, 22 March: Sime Darby Property is expected to build 4,000 affordable homes over the next three years following the high demand by consumers for such housing.
Sime Darby Property managing director Datuk Jauhari Hamidi said its commitment is a continuation of the company’s efforts of having already built 8,000 affordable homes across the country since 2007.
“Under the Rumah Selangorku scheme, we will develop 4,000 affordable homes to be built in Bandar Bukit Raja, City of Elmina, USJ Heights, Bukit Jelutong and Serenia City.
“The launch of Harmoni 1 in Putra Heights reflects our continuous commitment to the nation in developing affordable housing for the medium to low household income,” he said at the launch and registration of the Rumah Selangorku housing scheme at Putra Heights, here, today.
Jauhari added that for the 2016 and 2017 fiscal years, the half of the total housing units built by the company involves affordable housing.
Meanwhile, Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali praised Sime Darby Property for playing its role in providing affordable housing for the residents in the state.
“I hope that Sime Darby Property along with other developers will continue to play their part in ensuring that more affordable homes are built in the state,” he said after officiating the launch and registration of the housing scheme.
The Sime Darby property project dubbed “Harmoni 1” under the Rumah Selangorku housing scheme with a gross development value (GDV) of approximately RM359 million, will comprise four apartment blocks containing 1,700 units of 800sq ft and 1,000 sq ft homes with a selling price between RM170,000 to RM270,000.
Construction is expected to begin next month with the project expected to be completed in three years.
The Harmoni 1 development in Putra Heights is the second affordable housing projects by Sime Darby Property under the Rumah Selangorku housing scheme, with its first project at Bandar Bukit Raja, Klang, which was launched two years ago.
The Rumah Selangorku affordable housing scheme under the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) is open to all Malaysians (including non-Selangor natives) aged 18 years old and above, with a household income between RM3,000 to RM10,000.
