For those unable to be with their loved ones, a virtual Raya celebration that they can enjoy from the comforts of their home is the remedy they needed.
It’s no surprise that we have had to adjust to many new norms due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including how we celebrate our festive seasons such as Ramadhan without bazaars and Raya without the usual open houses. To keep the festive cheer alive, Sime Darby Property’s #BERSAMA Beraya Di Rumah campaign is taking this year’s Hari Raya festivities in a brand-new direction!
#BERSAMA Beraya Di Rumah campaign
The four-week-long virtual celebration will be filled with exciting Hari Raya-themed activities that bring people together virtually to add a little cheer to the ‘new normal’ Hari Raya celebration. One new activity will be released every Thursday on dtoideas.com starting from now until June 7.
The virtual celebration begins with an invitation to all Malaysians to #iftarBERSAMA by sharing their favourite recipes or a picture of the dish they can’t wait to eat during Iftar every year – as well as the good memories behind them.
You can also help bring back the long-forgotten tradition of making hand-made Raya greeting cards to post by creating your very own #kadrayaBERSAMA to post to your Atuk and Opah this year.
Not only that, show off your Gaya Raya in an exciting #ootdrayaBERSAMA challenge! Just snap your most creative social-distancing Raya OOTD (Outfit-of-the-Day) with your family in your best baju Raya.
To mark an end to the festivities, Sime Darby Property is holding a nation-wide #karaokeBERSAMA session! Submit a video of you, your family and friends singing along to a karaoke version of Selamat Hari Raya – just like old times.
The Ibupreneur initiative
As Raya is the season for giving and sharing our blessings, Sime Darby Property is giving back to the community by helping out B40 mothers through a collaboration with Ibupreneur. Ibupreneur is a social enterprise that aims to empower financially dependent and struggling women into using their skills to become successful social entrepreneurs.
Where it all began
For the first time ever, Sime Darby is replacing the customary design Raya experience of the festive decorations, uniquely designed yearly sampul Raya and exciting physical events at their sales galleries – by opting for a more community-centric and uplifting #StayAtHome friendly Raya celebration. But where does this idea stem from?
It all started when the pandemic peaked in April. Sime Darby Property had launched their #BERSAMA, Let’s Say Terima Kasih movement that lasted a total of 14 days. They managed to rally over 800 Malaysians into showing their united support through heartfelt thank you messages for not only the brave front-liners in the healthcare profession but also those in essential services including teachers, deliverymen, law enforcers and retail workers.
Sime Darby Property also showed their support for Dr Anand Kamalanathan’s PROJECT STAY POSITIVE BUT COVID-19 NEGATIVE initiative by providing his team with 200 posters from the thank you messages received to inject some positivity into the medical frontliners and staff working at Sungai Buloh Hospital.
The movement’s success helped keep everyone’s spirits up during these trying times and they are hoping to keep these positive vibes going throughout
