19 August, SEMENYIH – S P Setia celebrated the opening of EcoHill 2 Link and South Creek, the new Setia EcoHill 2 town park, today in a ceremony officiated by Selangor State Executive Council, YB Haniza Binti Mohamed Talha and graced by the Semenyih State Assemblyman, YB Tuan Bakhtiar Bin Mohd Nor. Both welcomed the efforts of S P Setia in not only preserving nature and its surroundings, but in caring for the community’s well-being by enhancing connectivity and providing a place for recreational activities in their township. Also present at the event were Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Mohd Zahid Mohd Noordin (Chairman of S P Setia) and Dato’ Khor Chap Jen (President & CEO of S P Setia).

In a true testament to the park’s accessibility to the surrounding community, the day saw over 1,000 residents from all over Semenyih and the vicinity attending the opening of South Creek town park as they were treated to many exciting games and activities such as giant kite displays, petting zoo with miniature horses, grass zorb ball challenge and food trucks galore.

“We are very proud of the completion of the 5.2 km dual two-lane EcoHill 2 Link connecting to Jalan Semenyih and ultimately to LEKAS. We started this project in August 2016 and completed it recently in April 2018. Although this project cost approximately RM80 million, we believe it is well worth it as Setia EcoHill 2 is now more accessible to residents and visitors,” said Dato’ Khor.

“The EcoHill 2 Link is expected to provide alternative routes to more than 50,000 people in Beranang and Semenyih who travel to Kuala Lumpur and other cities on a regular basis. It will also reduce the travel time from Beranang to the LEKAS Semenyih Interchange from 30 minutes to only 10 minutes. Upon the opening of the entire stretch, Setia Ecohill 2 residents and surrounding communities will enjoy excellent accessibility to neighbouring townships and the Kuala Lumpur city centre through connection to various highways such as LEKAS, SILK, SKVE, BESRAYA and PLUS,” he added.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Hulu Langat District Land Office, MPKJ and JKR Hulu Langat for the joint effort, support and approval of the EcoHill 2 Link for the benefit of the residents of Setia EcoHill 2, as well as the surrounding communities, which also includes neighbouring developments by others. We believe that this will become the catalyst for the growth and development of the Semenyih & Beranang Corridor.”

Dato’ Khor also expressed pride over the community’s response to South Creek. “We’ve received very positive feedback about our park installations and features. The Bird Nest Pavilion for example, was inspired by the weaverbird’s nest, and is a great lookout point giving you a view of the whole park. Our designers have also mixed in some modernity among organic designs—you can find both the geometry-inspired Verdura Bridge and the nature-inspired Spring Pavilion here.”

He added, “Many of our local residents very much appreciate the natural splendor they get to enjoy here, together with their families and friends. We were very thorough about our preservation efforts during construction. A total of over 80 native trees were identified, tagged and carefully transplanted. The entire tree-transplanting process took approximately one year to complete as some of these trees are believed to be more than 50 years old.”

Other than South Creek, Setia EcoHill 2 also features the Adventure Park for the young and the young at heart. The Adventure Park features 18 acres of natural landscape left intact for adventurous activities around Bukit Tempurung. It is designed with athletic youths, families, children and retirees in mind and is filled with activities such as mountain bike trails, sheltered canopy walks, a forest playground, jungle trekking trail and obstacle course for team building.
