Kuala Lumpur (14 September 2026) – Tropicana Corporation Berhad (“Tropicana” or “Group”) continues to reinforce its commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) principles through a series of community and environmental initiatives aligned with its People, Planet and Partnership pillars.
From supporting education and talent development in Johor and Malaysian veteran sports to encouraging better waste-management practices at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort (“TGCR”), these initiatives form part of the Group’s ongoing efforts to integrate responsible practices across its business and community engagements.
Collectively, these efforts are aligned with Tropicana’s broader ESG direction, vision and mission, and its OneTropicana vision – “Connecting Communities, Forging Futures”. Guided by its commitment to Redefining the Art of Living, the Group continues to place people, communities and sustainability at the heart of its developments and business practices.
WASTE MANAGEMENT EFFORT
At TGCR Clubhouse, an enhanced waste-separation approach has been introduced to encourage better segregation and recycling at source. In FY2025, 201.4 tonnes, or 93.3% of recorded Clubhouse waste, was sent to landfill, while 14.5 tonnes, or 6.7%, was recycled. The initiative seeks to progressively divert more suitable materials generated by the golf club operations, including its tenants, from landfill towards recovery and recycling.
The segregation system distinguishes recyclable materials from residual waste, with the recycling stream covering paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminium, tin and metal. Users are also encouraged to empty, rinse, wipe and drain recyclable items before disposal to minimise contamination and improve the quality of recyclable materials collected.
The initiative forms part of TGCR’s broader waste-management practices, which prioritise prevention and reduction, followed by reuse and recycling, treatment and, as a last resort, disposal. It also aligns with the Group’s efforts to reduce annual waste generation and, ultimately, Scope 3 Greenhouse Gas (“GHG”) emissions.
SUPPORTING EDUCATION & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Tropicana’s commitment to ESG extends to supporting programmes that contribute to community development, education and social well-being. As part of this commitment, Tropicana contributed RM3 million to Tabung Kebajikan & Pelajaran YPJ under Johor Education Foundation, supporting the Johor State Government’s broader education agenda and its efforts to develop a more advanced, resilient and competitive Johor.
The contribution supports education and talent-development initiatives aimed at strengthening opportunities for Johorean students and preparing future generations for evolving academic and industry needs. These include the Sekolah Rintis Bangsa Johor (“SRBJ”), a pilot model for education transformation with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (“STEM”) and English language proficiency, as well as initiatives under the Johor Education Foundation Group (Kumpulan Pendidikan Yayasan Pelajaran Johor – “KPYPJ”) and Johor State Education Plan to strengthen talent infrastructure, modernise technical facilities and future-proof skills institutions.
The initiative also supports targeted socio-economic education assistance for students from lower-income backgrounds, including the Biasiswa Orang Muda Johor (“BOMJ”) for top SPM scorers, Insentif Mahasiswa Anak Johor (“IMAJ”), Skim Bantuan Pendaftaran and Bantuan Laptop Siswa, helping to broaden access to education and digital resources.
Complementing its education-focused contribution, Tropicana also extended its support to Malaysian sports through a RM2,000 contribution in support of Malaysia’s participation in the World Masters Hockey Cup 2026, under the Group’s corporate donation and CSR efforts.
The tournament brought together veteran players across six Malaysian categories – Men’s 40s, 45s, 50s, 55s, 60s and 65s – with Malaysia participating under the patronage of Persatuan Hoki Veteran Sultan Ahmad Shah (“SAS”), the governing body for veteran hockey in Malaysia, officially recognised by the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (“MHC”). Held in the Netherlands and Belgium from 22 July to 16 August 2026, the tournament provided Malaysian veteran players with an international platform to compete and represent the country. Tropicana’s support forms part of the Group’s ongoing community initiatives that encourage community spirit, sportsmanship and national pride.
Demonstrating its continued commitment to sustainability, Tropicana maintained its 4-Star ESG rating under the FTSE ESG assessment with Bursa Malaysia for two consecutive years, in 2025 and 2026. This reflects the Group’s consistent progress in strengthening its ESG performance, governance and sustainability disclosure practices.
