test

12 October, ISKANDAR PUTERI Mall of Medini, a 55:45 joint-venture between UEM Sunrise Berhad (UEM Sunrise), one of Malaysia’s leading property developers, and Iskandar Investment Berhad, will be sporting a fresh and exciting new look with the addition of two major anchor tenants – a gourmet supermarket and a virtual reality centre.

Anchor tenant Ben’s Independent Grocer (B.I.G.) will have its sixth supermarket and the first outside of Klang Valley, occupying an area of 35,000 square feet. B.I.G. established its flagship store at Publika Shopping Gallery, Kuala Lumpur in 2011 as a one-stop eat, drink and shopping centre for folks who love food. It is the leader within the premium grocery segment in Malaysia.

B.I.G. offers the finest and freshest ingredients from all over the world so that Johoreans and weekend shoppers from Singapore can explore and expand their taste buds. They can also experience a complete grocery adventure through an impressive array of specialised ingredient themed sections like Barn Butchery, Bay Seafood, B.Organic and Malaya Kitchen.

B.I.G. offers more than everyday essentials and consumables. It aims to satiate the appetite for discovery through live cooking demonstrations, community-driven events and many other fun creative activities for the entire family.

Korea’s largest telecommunications operator KT Corporation has also launched VRinity – Virtual Reality Centre of Excellence at Mall of Medini. A joint-venture partnership with Iskandar Innovations Sdn Bhd (a member of Iskandar Investment Berhad group of companies), VRinity, with an investment close to RM4 million is the latest attraction in Iskandar Puteri to join the likes of Legoland Malaysia Resort.

It offers 5,000 square feet of a fully immersive gaming centre equipped with the best virtual reality (VR) technologies from Korea including motion platforms, racing simulators and VR touch experiences.

UEM Sunrise Berhad Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib said as the master developer of Iskandar Puteri, UEM Sunrise will continue adding value to Johor by making things exciting for Mall of Medini visitors and the community.

“In relaunching Mall of Medini with a fresh new look, fun and interactive activities; a variety of shopping facilities and a wide range of experiences will be on offer. We are also hoping to play our part in Johor government and Tourism Johor’s efforts to attract more visitors and to achieve their target of 8.4 million tourists for Visit Johor 2020,” he added.

Mall of Medini’s other major tenants include KFC, Burger King, Starbucks, Old Town White Coffee, Al-Ikhsan, Absolute Thai and The Chicken Rice Shop. The 110,000 square feet net lettable area mall has 51 outlets.

To make Mall of Medini accessible for commuters between Malaysia and Singapore, bus operator Causeway Link has launched its new cross-border route via the Second Link.

The new route runs between Iskandar Puteri and Tuas in Singapore with the drop-off and pick-up points located at Mall of Medini and Tuas Link MRT Station with an interval of 10 to 15 minutes during peak hours and a travelling time of around 45 minutes to 1 hour.

With its intimate high-street, colonnade-style retail setting, Mall of Medini offers a naturally ventilated shopping experience in an elegant yet lively and festive environment that makes it unique from the rest of the conventional “box” shopping malls. Currently, it serves as the gateway to Legoland Malaysia with its retail mix ranging from F&B, fashion, and gifts and souvenir shops.
