Major Contributor to Perak’s GDP: Construction sector

IPOH, Jan 16 — The construction sector contributed 5.6 per cent to Perak’s economic growth in 2015, making it the biggest contributor to the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, says Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee Chairman Datuk Mohamad Zahir Abdul Khalid.

“Development and housing projects accounted for the construction sector’s major contribution to the state’s economic growth,” he told reporters after witnessing the signing of a contract between Bintang Wirajaya Sdn Bhd and Huashi (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd to develop the D’Aman Residensi @ Bandar Meru Raya apartment project.

Mohamad Zahir said the project would enable middle-income earners to purchase their own house with modern designs at affordable prices.

“With a minimum capital investment, purchasers will be able to own a D’Aman Residency apartment which is located about 150 metres away from the Movie Animation Park Studios Theme Park which will open soon,” he said.

Under the project, sprawled over 9.85 hectares, a total of 1,324 apartments would be built in two phases.

The first phase would entail the construction of a five-storey apartment while the second phase would see a 15-storey apartment block completed by next year.
