Kuala Lumpur, 6 June — The International Architecture, Interior Design & Building Exhibition (ARCHIDEX) — Southeast Asia’s premier annual architecture, interior design and building industry event — is back for its 18th year.
To be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from July 19 to 22, ARCHIDEX 2017 is a four-day trade exhibition that will feature over 550 local and international exhibitors representing leading brands in the industry from 11 countries comprising Malaysia, Austria, China, Germany, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand and United Kingdom, as well as Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region).
This year’s exhibition expects to attract 36,000 visitors, including industry professionals such as architects, interior designers, property developers, engineers and quantity surveyors.
This year’s instalment is expected to grow from last year’s successful event and see an increase of transactions to over RM 1 billion.
ARCHIDEX is a key component of the annual Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival (KLAF) organised by Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM). The annual exhibition is jointly organised by PAM and C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd, a leading, award-winning Malaysian trade and lifestyle exhibition organiser. Since its inception in 2000, ARCHIDEX has remained steadfast to its goal of supporting the architecture fraternity by establishing a business platform to showcase the best and brightest players and ideas of this robust industry.
“With technology advancing by leaps and bounds, we are seeing amazing ways in which it can be utilised in the architecture, interior design and building industry. We are proud that ARCHIDEX is a strategic platform to showcase and support the best and brightest innovations of our industry for it to grow and advance,” says C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd president Dato’ Vincent Lim.
“The convergence of various technologies in every facet of human activities includes architecture. Now more than ever, our traditional notion of architecture is starting to change. Today, the creative process is heavily infused with technology, from design to construction. Designs that were impossible before can be realised in a shorter time and with better accuracy. ARCHIDEX, as the platform showcasing new building materials, products and technologies, provides the opportunity for architects and industry specifiers to explore a more efficient, sustainable and cost effective design solution,” says Ar. Ezumi Harzani Ismail, President of Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM).
This year’s show will feature, among others, the increasing importance of Building Systems and Technology (BST), which fosters greater efficiency and cost control for a wide range of companies and related sectors. Among the programmes lined up for this year’s event is Architalent, a design challenge for competing students to present their concepts based on thoughtful and provocative ideas for densely populated cities such as Kuala Lumpur; the Focus Forum@ARCHIDEX, which will look at Regulating Construction Materials and Products Under CIDB Act 520 (Amendment 2011) and the Certificate of Standard Compliance (PPSi); Biz@ARCHIDEX, featuring a selection of exhibitors sharing invaluable information and experience on the latest trends, designs, and technicalities of the building industry.
ARCHIDEX 2017 also sees the world’s leading bathroom specialist ROCA becoming its Principal Partner. The partnership with the Spanish brand that’s celebrating its 100th anniversary this year was made during a Press Conference to announce the event, held today at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
ARCHIDEX is endorsed by MATRADE and supported by the Malaysian Ministry of Works, the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism and Culture, the Malaysian Conventions and Exhibitions Bureau, and the Malaysia Green Building Confederation. Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is the Official Airline. Its Principal Partner is ROCA and Strategic Partners include ARTWRIGHT, INTERSIT, BLUM, NANO-G, EBAC, VSP and ABUS.
ARCHIDEX is the region’s most important trade event in the architecture, interior design, and building industry calendar. Over the years, ARCHIDEX has grown to become the most successful congregation of professionals for this industry not just within Malaysia but increasingly from the around the region.
