The people of Subang Jaya must have breathed a sigh of relief when new stops were added on the Kelana Jaya LRT line extension last year. The line covers a distance of 17.4km, which starts from Kelana Jaya station and passes through twelve stations, ending in Putra Heights.
The improved accessibility, cost savings and relief of traffic congestions are definitely plus points when it comes to this LRT line. Besides getting you to your destination, what else do these new stops have to offer?
Travelling by car to Subang is definitely a norm for me. But with the added stations stretching across various stops in Subang, one has to wonder; what lies within walking distance from the LRT station? This writer has boldly ventured through the depths of Subang Jaya, with a Touch ‘n Go card in one hand and food in her mind.
SS15, Subang Jaya
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. SS15 definitely hits the spot as there are a wide variety of kopitiam places within 1-2 minutes away from the LRT station. Hankering for some classic roti canai or nasi lemak? There’s always a friendly mamak around the corner to cure your hunger blues. If you’re a regular in these parts, you would definitely know some of the famous cafes and hangout spots around the area.

2. USJ 7
Da Men Mall is within 5 minutes walking distance from LRT USJ 7
Never again will you face the traffic congestion that is the Persiaran Kewajipan near Kesas highway because this station is within walking distance of shopping malls such as The Summit USJ and Da Men. Besides that, Sunway Pyramid, Giant Hypermarket and Mydin Hypermarket are easily accessible via BRT as well! I couldn’t resist stopping by the iconic mall that is The Summit USJ to reminisce my college days and to have lunch at Penang Asam House.

LRT Station, Taipan
Taipan has a wide variety of eateries that range from Chinese to Western food and even Thai food as well. You will notice that there seems to be quite a few cafes that have popped up, serving up delicious brunch and pastries for you to feast on!

4. USJ 21
Main Place, USJ 21
Just within walking distance of this LRT station, you will find shoplots serving up different variety of cuisines ranging from Malay, Thai and even Western food. Shopping malls like Main Place and if you’re really up for the walk, One City is just within walking distance.

Stepping down from this station, you will get an instant neighbourhood vibe. The first thing you see within walking distance is a restaurant serving up delicious seafood delights! Since it’s tea time, I swung by at one of the more exciting joints around the area – Moon’s Kitchen.
It was certainly an adventure exploring the LRT stops around Subang Jaya and this seems to be a more convenient mode of transportation for my next adventures as well! The LRT is quick, efficient and definitely the better way to travel if you’re not keen on facing the traffic.
