Every parent should read this!

Somehow, children’s rooms always look so wonderfully colourful and magical on TV. In reality, many children’s rooms are monotonous, messy, and pretty plain. Fret not though, we’ve got some crafty ideas on how you can brighten up your children’s rooms and bring some of that TV magic home with you.
1. Bring the stars inside
You can find beautiful projection lamps that will fill your child’s room with the cosmos at night. There’s are relatively inexpensive on Lazada and work great as a nightlight. These projection lamps come in all sorts of fun images from stars to nebulas, cartoon characters and more. For an added oomph, you can paint the ceiling a deep blue to imitate the night sky.

2. Paint the ceiling a bright colour
Speaking of ceilings, they’re a great place to start when attempting to redesign your child’s room. Let’s say the theme in Pink Princess, you can opt for a baby/pastel pink tone for the ceiling instead of a boring white. Baby blue for landscape/cowboy theme, turquoise for an underwater adventure, or even purple just because it’s your baby’s favourite colour! Since children tend to look up more often than adults do, a pop of colour up top will be a fun surprise for them.
3. Add a toy hammock

If your child has an army of soft toys and teddies, you can put a little three-corner hammock just above the floor where they plushies can call home. These are relatively easy to make using a triangle scarf or a giant square scarf folder in two diagonally. If you’re a little craftier, you can find knitting or crochet tutorials online that will teach you how to make a hammock. Or you could just take a shortcut and get an actual hammock instead.
4. Go crazy with the lighting
One of the easiest ways to bring some child-like joy into a room is by switching out the standard light fixtures for cute novelty ones that match the theme. Let’s say your child is a fan of the great outdoors, you can find a rainbow wall light or little cloud lamps for their bedside. Again, there’s a bunch of great options online.

5. Designate a chalkboard wall

This is a great way to give your children room to get creative. You can pick one wall or even a section of wall to be the ‘chalkboard’ and use either chalkboard paint or a chalkboard sticker to create your very own board for doodling. And instead of using traditional chalk which can get messy and dusty (not great for kids to inhale too much of that stuff), you can find colourful liquid-based erasable chalkboard markers.
6. Create a cosy corner

This works great especially if you have more than one child in the same room. If the room has space enough, you can pick a small area of floor space to turn into a little reading nook or just a cosy spot to chill. Get some soft pillows, a beanbag, and a fluffy rug, maybe add a little flag on the wall and you’re good to go. If you have the budget for it, you can even get one of those small tepees for added cosiness.
7. Up the ante with faux stained glass
You can find window stickers at home improvement stores in a myriad of designs from the classic rainbow coloured stained glass effect to more subtle floral or frosted versions. You can put them up on your own and your child can even help pick out a design they love. It instantly brightens up the room and if you get a frosted version, you can leave off curtains and blinds altogether.
So there you have it, 7 ways to brighten up your child’s room. Revamping a child’s room is the perfect time to let the little one be involved in picking out a theme and get hands-on with this project. It’ll give them a sense of ownership over the room and give you and your tiny human a chance to learn from each other and just have fun together.
