Worldwide Excellence Award 2017 names Tan Sri Lim Hock San as 'Person of the Year'

22 November, PETALING JAYA – ‘I chose to return to help my father’. That was the decision made by Tan Sri Lim Hock San that kick-started his illustrious career spanning 35 years, which more recently earned him the prestigious recognition of ‘Person of the Year’ at the Worldwide Excellence Award (WEA) 2017 held at the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa.

The award recognises Tan Sri Lim’s prominent contribution to the local property industry, social outreach, business associations and bilateral trade affairs. “I feel very honoured to receive this award. I must thank my father for instilling in me strong family values of staying united as there is strength in unity, to be humble, evolve quickly, be decisive and act with integrity. These values continue to guide me in every avenue I venture into, be it in the property industry, business fraternity, social or international bilateral engagements,” explained Tan Sri Lim.

“Leading LBS over the past 25 years, I have enjoyed being part of growing the group thanks to the dedication of the management and our employees. Growing from a humble transportation company into an award winning township developer is a big milestone. In line with our growth, I will continue to enforce the importance of giving back to the communities around us. We continue to set our sights on greater heights, and I am confident LBS will achieve these goals with everyone putting their best foot forward,” he said.

Over the years, Tan Sri Lim has expanded the Group’s portfolio with award-winning projects located in the Klang Valley, Johor, and Pahang. Tan Sri’s foresight led LBS to become a successful township developer through its flagship BSP township. Not resting on his laurels, Tan Sri Lim and the LBS Group are looking to emulate this success with latest townships namely; LBS Alam Perdana in Ijok under the Kuala Selangor District, North West of Klang Valley and LBS Cybersouth in Dengkil.

Possessing a strong sense of community, Tan Sri Lim is also President of the Federation of Malaysia Lim Associations. His hands-on-nature has enabled him to relate to his audiences in the business fraternity and societies in need, including the elderly and children from marginalised communities. The LBS Foundation, established to give back to society and incorporate social awareness, has embarked on various efforts based on four key pillars namely, education, community, environment and health. The Group has supported a number of schools, cultural groups and public welfare funds at home and abroad.

On a global level, Tan Sri Lim is the President of the Malaysia-Guangdong Chamber of Investment Promotion (MGCIP) responsible for promoting the development of economic and trade relationship between Malaysia and China. A believer in China’s One Belt and One Road (OBOR) initiative, he has spoken in support of the need to further tap into business and tourism opportunities. In recognition of Tan Sri Lim’s active contributions in nurturing ties with China over the years, he was selected as the sole representative from Malaysia, among the 38 non-voting Chinese delegates from 30 countries around the world, to attend the Lianghui Annual Meeting in Beijing, China held in March earlier this year.

Tan Sri Lim also holds high level positions as President of The Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China – Guangdong Province; committee member of Fujian Provincial Federation; Vice President of Fujian Overseas Exchanges Association Fifth Council; committee member of China Chamber of International Commerce; and committee member of Zhuhai Municipal People’s Political Consultative Conference, China.

Other bilateral dealings include the management of the Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC), an FIA (International Motor Sports Federation) approved circuit located in Zhuhai, China. More recently, Tan Sri Lim initiated the Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC) Upgrading and Transformation Plan that outlines the upgrade and transformation plan of multiple zones in ZIC, beginning with the launch of the Melaka Cultural and Trade Centre. The transformation is set to tap into the potential of the tourism industry between China and Malaysia.

Organised by Business Circle, a new media technology company, the WEA is into its fourth edition. Themed “Link the World with One Belt One Road” Worldwide Excellence Award 2017 organised by Business Circle was held at Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa. Worldwide Excellence Award claims itself as the most credible and most prestigious award in Asia with the aim to showcasing the outstanding and excellent role models from different industries at international level.
