Vanke’s Run For Fun garners over 2,500 participants, champions healthy corporate culture

2 November, Kuala Lumpur – The Kuala Lumpur ‘Run For Fun’ 2019, which aims to encourage healthy living, and for corporations to be mindful of their employees’ health and working environment, saw more than 2,500 participants representing over 100 corporations, NGOs and government bodies at the beautiful Perdana Botanical Garden early this month.

For the first time, Vanke Malaysia has brought the signature event to Malaysia, which saw corporations such as Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Meinhardt Malaysia, China State Construction Engineering, Huawei Technologies Malaysia.

‘Run For Fun’ was initiated in 2013 by Vanke Group with the core values of “Run For Health, Run For Fun and Run for Friendship” to promote a “happy sports” culture. Since its initiation in Shenzhen, Vanke has successfully held more than 400 races in over 60 major cities. About 1000,000 people from 25,000 corporations, 40,000 families and 51 schools have been involved in these runs.

Over the years, Vanke has always insisted on the active development of social health sports, charity and cultural protection to exert its due diligence for social harmony and comprehensive development. Vanke is the first company in the world to incorporate employee health into its KPI assessment. This is to encourage its employees to have a healthy body and mind, and to achieve work-life balance.

A healthy corporate culture values each employee in the organization regardless of their job duties, thus boosting employees’ morale and productivity. These sports activities have shown to raise staff satisfaction in the company, which results in employees working as a team to meet the company’s needs besides their own.

Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Dr Ong Kian Ming graced the event and officiated the start of the 5km run with Vanke Malaysia Managing Director Lang Cong.

“Today we saw thousands of people running with one unified purpose and it was a heartwarming sight to behold. The core values that Run For Fun was founded upon are “Run For Health, Run For Fun and Run For Friendship”, and it was clear that every single runner today embodied those values,” Lang Cong said after the 5km run was over.

“This first Run For Fun in Malaysia is a special one, as we are promoting the theme of healthy corporate culture and integrating sports activities in the workplace environment. More than a hundred corporations, NGOs and government bodies here today had put aside their differences for their love of running, and it proves how important these kinds of activities can serve as a platform for corporate bonding and improve overall employee happiness,” he added.

A mini-festival was also set up in the event grounds, for Run For Fun participants to rest, mingle and have fun after the race. There were activities such as lucky draws, best-dressed awards and interactive games which created an enjoyable and family-friendly atmosphere.

Since its expansion into Malaysia in June 2017, Vanke Malaysia aims to gain confidence and recognition from Malaysians by showing that the company’s dedication to improving lives is not only done through its products and services but also through its culture. Vanke Malaysia is currently working on their flagship property project in Malaysia which is a mixed development project comprising residential, retail and commercial elements, located in Jalan Raja Chulan nearby to the iconic Kuala Lumpur Tower.
