14 September 2017: United Malayan Land Bhd (UMLand) organised a friendly “UMLand Media Bowling Night Competition” at Daiman Bowling Complex which had 14 teams with 42 players from the Malay, English and Chinese newspapers participating.

“We thought it might be a good idea for members of the media to socialise in a fun and casual setting and also for us at UMLand to catch up with friends in the industry,” says UMLand Seri Austin’s CEO/Acting Group Director of Townships, Wong Kuen Kong.

“This is our 7th year organising this event in Johor Bahru but 1st time under UMLand group and the turnout has always been encouraging,” Wong adds. UMLand fielded 8 teams in the event and Wong, himself, participated as a team member.

On August 28, UMLand held a similar event for journalists in the central region for the first time and it was met with overwhelming response with support from all three vernacular newspapers.

The evening event ended with RTM led by Raden Mohammad Azwan bagging the champion trophy. Second to fifth places went to Utusan Malaysia, TV3, RTM Team B and Astro Awani respectively.
