JOHOR, 30 December – UMLand Seri Austin brought happiness and smiles to 70 school-going children from Taman Cempaka Johor Bahru with ‘Back-to-School’ Programme recently.
The programme was part of Seri Austin Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to assist less fortunate families with school-going children with ‘back-to-school’ supplies. It was organised by Pulai Indian Community Service Centre in collaboration with the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB).
The event was attended by YB Datuk Nur Jazlan Bin Tan Sri Mohamed Rahmat, Pulai UMNO Division Chief and Datuk Ramlee Bohani, Pulai UMNO Division Deputy Chief.
All the 70 children who were attending primary and secondary schools were presented with new school uniforms, bags followed by a scrumptious refreshment especially for the children and their families.
“We are delighted to bring cheer and warmth to the children with our ‘Back-to-School’ programme today. This programme is part of our continuous effort in reaching out to a wider cross-section of the community through a series of CSR initiatives organised throughout the year”, said UMLand Seri Austin Chief Executive Officer (CEO), KK Wong.
The programme is now in the second year running aimed to ease the burden of the less fortunate families in preparation of the upcoming school year. Last year, the event was able to gather 40 students from low-income families to receive the same contribution.
