ISKANDAR PUTERI, 6 January – United Malayan Land Bhd (UMLand) officially opened the UMLand Medini Lakeside Gallery today to showcase its UMCity masterplan, which features projects like UMCity Medini Lakeside and Viridea @ Medini Lakeside. The opening of the gallery also reflects the Group’s confidence in the continuing growth of the Malaysian property sector.
The Grand Launch of the Gallery was officiated by YB Datuk Tee Siew Kiong, Chairman of Tourism, Trade and Consumer Affairs of Johor State, who represented YAB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khalid bin Nordin, the Menteri Besar of Johor. Also present at the ceremony were YBhg Tun Musa Hitam, Chairman of UMLand; YBhg Dato’ Ng Eng Tee, Executive Deputy Chairman of UMLand and Dato’ Daniel Chan, Group Director, Property Development (Niche), Real Estate Management, UMLand.
Dato’ Chan, said, “UMLand has been part and parcel of the Johor property landscape for close to three decades and we are also a pioneer developer in Iskandar Malaysia. The opening of our Medini Lakeside Gallery is a significant milestone for our Group as we continue to expand our presence in this vibrant and fast-growing State.” According to Dato’ Chan, the UMLand Medini Lakeside Gallery has been purposed-built to showcase UMLand’s masterplan for this strategically located land bank within Medini Iskandar Malaysia’s Zone B Business and Media district.
“Our vision for Medini Lakeside is anchored by two UMLand developments, namely UMCity Medini Lakeside and Viridea @ Medini Lakeside.” “Instead of developing standalone projects on this site, we have taken the effort to plan it in a way that will set new benchmarks in the property sector not only in Iskandar Malaysia but internationally,” he added. Driven by an aspiration to invigorate the 13-acre central lake of the development, we plan to cultivate and rejuvenate the lake into a landscaped lake park ideal for various fauna and man-made structures to co-exist with recreational elements.
For this, we engaged renowned consultant AECOM to lead the design process. The lake is primed to become a natural ecosystem providing water quality improvement, bank stability, wildlife habitat and recreational uses. The design of the lake will allow residents to experience a unique and integrated experience for work, play and relaxation fit all walks of life especially families. The lake will also provide the perfect backdrop to the residential and commercial elements of the UMLand Medini Lakeside enhanced with Lakeside Retail and Lakefront Shops.
Built with a modern and contemporary concept, the UMLand Medini Lakeside Gallery maximises natural lighting with its glasshouse design, giving guests an unparalleled view of the entire development. Guests are greeted by a lush landscape, allowing them to experience first-hand living in UMCity Medini Lakeside and Viridea @ Medini Lakeside. The Gallery is anchored by a Linear Park, which sits in between both developments.
Within the Gallery itself, guests will be able to experience the show units for Viridea @ Medini Lakeside’s SOHO units and its serviced residences as well as show units for Shama Medini. “Given the waterfront element of Medini Lakeside, our masterplan takes its cue from the lush tropical and marine environment while being inspired by sustainable features such as water management and water sensitive urban developments,” Dato’ Chan added.
UMCity Medini Lakeside is UMLand’s flagship mixed commercial development with a GDV of RM1.2 billion. This 5.03-acre development will house an integrated superstructure with five components including upscale serviced apartments in collaboration with the Onyx Hospitality Group – a 213-units Shama Medini and a 198-room OZO Medini Hotel; a retail space featuring lakefront food and beverage outlets; an ultra modern office block; as well as branded serviced apartments called a 214-units Citadines managed by The Ascott Limited.
Due to the collaboration UMLand has with these international brand names, UMCity will emerge as the most comprehensive international collaboration development in Iskandar Malaysia. UMCity is expected to be completed by late 2018. Viridea @ Medini Lakeside offers 120 SOHO units, 680 units of serviced residence and 16 blocks of 3-storey retail shop office. With a total GDV of RM780 million, this residential ranging from 736 square feet to 1,342 square feet offering features world-class facilities coupled with excellent service. Viridea @ Medini Lakeside is expected to be completed by late 2018.
“We are confident that our vision for Medini Lakeside will resonate well with local and international property buyers and investors alike and the Gallery will become the focal point to showcase Iskandar Malaysia and Johor as a destination of choice for investments, business and contemporary living,” Dato’ Chan concluded. We wish Foon Yew High School all the best, and we look forward to seeing the school open and serve the community in and around Bandar Seri Alam.”

The new school, which will sit on 23.24 acres of land, will be built in the heart of Bandar Seri Alam, a township developed by UMLand that has been recognised as the education hub for the Eastern Corridor of Iskandar Malaysia by the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA).
Aptly named the “City of Knowledge”, Bandar Seri Alam is the largest fully integrated urban development in the region, spanning across 3,800 acres. We look forward to working hand-in-hand with UMLand as a long-term partner and we are excited to see the school open to the community in this township.”
