UMLand hosts 2016 Chap Goh Mei Celebration at Seri Austin Gallery

JOHOR, 20 February 2016 – Huge crowds of people came to support and commemorate “Chap Goh Mei” celebrations at Seri Austin Gallery last Saturday, 20 February 2016. Organized by UMLand Seri Austin, the event showcased a musical, colorful confluence of dragons and lions in addition to the Yee Sang tossing. The annual event held to mark Chinese New Year 2016 and we shared the festive joy with visitors through the special events and various cultural performances.

The ceremony commenced with drum beating guests were enthralled by the dragon and lion dance performances to announce the arrival of Guest of Honor, YB Khoo Soo Seang, Member of Parliament Tebrau and YBhg Datuk Ismail Ibrahim, Chief Executive of Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA).

On the same event, we were also celebrating the 2nd Anniversary of Seri Austin as the 1st Smart Healthy City & Communities Township in Iskandar Malaysia. The Seri Austin township was recognized by IRDA in February 2014 as the ‘1st Smart Healthy City and Community Township’ in Iskandar Malaysia

Aligned with the recognitions and to be different from other developers, a lot of smart and healthy features are available in the township including teaming up with Telekom Malaysia to supply all residents with free UniFi − a high-speed broadband service, working in conjunction with Johor Bahru City Council to incorporate effective microorganisms (EM) into the township’s ecosystem − an effective, natural alternative to using unharmful chemicals for sustainable practices in agricultural, wastewater and environmental applications, and implementing a designated bicycle lane spanning roughly 7.3 kilometers of roadway around the township for “safety and healthy cycling.”

Part of the performances include Feng Shui talk by Master Paw on the 2016 luck for the 12 celestial animals in the Chinese zodiac. Other activities were lucky draws, an Instagram photography, Monkey King performance, God of Prosperity appearance, as well as wushu and high stilt dance performance.
