Johor Bahru, 15 March 2016 – The Chairman of Tourism, Trade and Consumer Affairs of Johor State, Datuk Tee Siew Kiong, has done the honours in the final concrete pour onto the slab at the 19th Floor of Amari Hotel development today in celebration of the hotel’s topping out. Tun Musa Hitam, the Chairman of United Malayan Land Bhd (UMLand), Mr. Peter Henley, the President and Chief Executive Officer of ONYX Hospitality Group (ONYX), and Mr. Dennis Ng, the Group Managing Director of UMLand, were present to witness this momentous occasion.
Amari Johor Bahru will be part of UMLand’s Suasana Iskandar Malaysia (Suasana), an integrated commercial development located in the heart of Johor, that comprises residential, retail and hospitality components. The Amari Hotel will feature 242 luxurious rooms, the renowned Breeze Spa, Amaya Food Gallery and creative meeting venues. The hotel promises to be a haven for hotel guests, shoppers and residents and expected to have its soft opening by end 2016.
Originating from Thailand, a country famed for its world-class hospitality, Amari is the centrepiece of ONYX Hospitality Group’s portfolio of hotel brands. Amari is currently operating in 14 locations, from Thailand to Maldives, and is now cementing its first foothold in Malaysia.

Suasana is centrally situated along Jalan Wong Ah Fook and Jalan Trus and will form an integral part of the massive transformation of the Johor Bahru skyline. In addition to the Amari Hotel, the development also comprises a 35-storey serviced apartment tower and the Zenith retail mall, where guests and residents can enjoy two levels of entertainment outlets, clubs and bistros right at their doorstep.

The Suasana Iskandar is an iconic integrated development comprising of a 35-storey serviced apartment tower, 60,000 square feet of retail at the Zenith, and the Amari Hotel by ONYX Hospitality Group. The Amari Johor Bahru has been conferred with the Provisional BCA Mark Gold Award and the grand opening of Amari Johor Bahru will be happening in the first quarter of 2017.
