UEM Sunrise Launches Phase 3 of SILC, Signs on Business Services Provider GIANT as Tenant

KUALA LUMPUR, 7 February – UEM Sunrise Berhad today launched Phase 3 of the Southern Industrial & Logistics Clusters (SILC) – a fully integrated 1,300-acre industrial park in Iskandar Puteri, Johor which is targeted at light to medium industries. SILC currently houses businesses from 12 international countries including Korea, China, the USA, Australia and Denmark.

Today also witnessed the inking of an agreement with Crown Worldwide Group for the purchase of 4.136 acres of land for RM16 million. Crown Worldwide Group, is a Hong-Kong based company and provide various services including information management, world mobility, relocation and fine art logistics. An additional RM21 million will be spent to build a facility with the capability to store over 1.5 million boxes of corporate documents for its Crown Records Management Band, as well as being home to its Crown Relations and Crown World Mobility brands.

Managing director and CEO of UEM Sunrise, Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib said,” With Crown Worldwide bringing its global outlook and industry expertise, we expect to see significant growth in job creation, particularly in the logistics services and operations space, in our industrial park by Q32018 –  We expect to create 3,500 jobs in SILC 3 alone by 2021.’’

“So far, UEM Sunrise has spent RM350 million on infrastructure development for all of our projects in Iskandar Malaysia and we will be investing another RM250 million over the next five years. By providing ready infrastructure, investors do not have to worry about the area’s readiness and sustainability – For instance with the SILC, when our investors come in, all they have to do is to build their facility,’’ he added.

Managing Director of Crown Worldwide, Leon Hulme expressed the company’s excitement at being part of a catalytic development for Iskandar Puteri, “ We chose to invest in SILC Phase 3 because we see Iskandar Puteri as a regional hub from which we can best serve the Malaysian market, while simultaneously giving us access to the Southeast Asian region.”

Boasting contiguous development-ready land, SiLC has a cluster-based approach featuring advanced, innovation-driven industries augmenting the value chain of integrated ‘clean’ industrial sectors in four major areas – advanced technology, health & nutrition, logistics, and biotechnology.

The park which faces the Second Link Highway, is only 6 minutes away from the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link, 15 minutes away from the Port of Tanjung Pelepas and has strategic access to freight railways that links to Senai, JB Central and Pasir Gudang.

Phase 3, spread across 196 acres is targeted to provide 86 industrial serviced lots. Bearing an expected Gross Development Value (GDV) of RM800 million, earthworks is expected to be completed by Q32017.

Phase 1 and Phase 2 covering 900 acres have been completely sold out – with the final plot of Phase 2 being bought by AMOREPACIFIC, South Korea’s number one cosmetic company in June 2016.
