UDA launches corporate social responsibility programme ‘UDA Cares’ during Aidilfitri open house at Johor Bahru

19 June, JOHOR BAHRU – Sustainable and competitive property development and asset management company, UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA), launched its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative ‘UDA Cares’, recently. The launching ceremony was held at Angsana Johor Bahru in conjunction with Aidilfitri Open House organized by UDA Land South Sdn Bhd and Angsana Johor Bahru Mall.

The launching ceremony was officiated by YBrs Tn. Hj. Zahrin Zakaria, Acting President/Chief Executive Office, UDA Holdings Berhad. The event was also attended by YBrs Encik Ar. Mohamad Subki Ahmad, Board of Director, YBhg Datuk Ahmad Tajuddin Mohamed, Group Chief Operating Officer, Asset Management, YBrs Tn. Hj. Noor Azmi Salleh, Group Chief Operating Officer, Property Development, YBrs Tn. Hj. Hishamuddin Mon, Group Chief Operating Officer, Corporate Services and other UDA senior management lineup.

Tn. Hj. Zahrin said, “As a company that emphasizes on balance in business, UDA has always been a part of the local community, especially towards giving back to those in need. The continuous efforts give added value to the community and at the same time strengthens the relationship between UDA and its subsidiaries with local communities, especially in areas of UDA businesses located throughout Malaysia,” he said.

UDA has always engaged in various CSR activities since the early days of UDA’s establishment. UDA is introducing the UDA Cares brand to raise awareness on UDA’s efforts and initiatives in empowering local communities. In conjunction with the launch of ‘UDA Cares’, UDA also introduced four new brand categories and pillars under the CSR program namely; UDA Cares – Educational, UDA Cares – Entrepreneur, UDA Cares – Project RE_ and UDA Cares – Enriching Life.

Tn. Hj. Zahrin added, “For UDA Cares – Educational, UDA focusses on the younger generation, especially schoolchildren, in an effort to empower local communities through education. The initiative will be running through adopted school programs in the UDA businesses area, for example in Johor, Penang, Perak, Pahang, Terengganu and Selangor. The two selected schools in Johor are Sekolah Kebangsaan Sg. Danga and Sekolah Menengah Bandar UDA Utama and each school received RM30,000.00 fund to undertake academic and co-curriculum activities or programs for student development.

” UDA also introduced UDA Cares – Entrepreneur. In line with UDA’s role as one of the agencies under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development (MED), through this pillar UDA aims to promote and encourage entrepreneurship activities,” he added.

UDA aims to engage with its local communities through UDA Cares – Project RE_ which focuses on health and environment. The programs target to enhance community living through strategic collaborations within the neighbourhood.

Through the UDA Cares – Enriching Life program, UDA will channel zakat donations to those who are eligible. Every year UDA pays zakat to the Pusat Zakat Wilayah Persekutuan and a sum of money is returned for UDA to distribute to eligible asnaf. The contributions are given to qualified asnaf groups around the UDA businesses area.
