4 JUNE, PETALING JAYA – Tropicana Foundation (Foundation), the charity arm of Tropicana Corporation Berhad (Tropicana) continues its mission to give back to society and helps to flatten the COVID-19 curve. The Foundation has recently donated RM30,000 that went towards the acquisition of 10 medical beds for Hospital Banting in Kuala Langat, Selangor, and 10 new wheelchairs to Petaling District Health Office to facilitate the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme held at the Sunway Convention Center.
Tropicana is committed to aiding the Malaysia government to combat the outbreak by providing necessary resources to boost the capacity of hospitals and immunisation centers. The recent spike in cases has prompted many hospitals and convention centers to expand their capacities to take in patients.
Jared Ethan Ang, Group Executive Director of Tropicana spoke about the charity initiatives of the Tropicana Foundation as well as their concern for the rising tide of COVID-19.
“There is an urgent need to break the chain of infection as soon as possible. In line with our mission to redefine the art of living and in that regard; we’ve got to play our part in society in changing how we live, work, and recuperate. Currently, these centers are facing a shortage of medical beds and wheelchairs. So, we did our bit to provide some relief and ease the strain on the healthcare system in any way we can. The government has accelerated the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme and we anticipate positive recovery and achieve herd immunity.” he said.
