16 January, SHAH ALAM – The police have advised the users of Jalan Klang-Teluk Intan to use an alternative route on Jan 20 and 21 due to a Thaipusam chariot procession in the vicinity of Kuala Selangor.
Kuala Selangor District Police chief Supt Mohd Asri A. Wahab said the chariot would use Jalan Bukit Rotan in Kuala Selangor on Jan 20 and Jalan Klang-Teluk Intan on Jan 21 and head to Kampung Tanjong Keramat, Kuala Selangor.
He said in a statement that motorists coming from Kuala Lumpur were advised to use the LATAR Expressway exit to Kuala Selangor and take the right diversion at Jalan Kelab Golf, Kampung Kuantan, Kuala Selangor, to get to Kuala Selangor town.
Motorists from Teluk Intan to Klang and Kuala Lumpur were advised to use the left turn at the Jalan Telok Piah traffic intersection to head to Jalan Telok Piah Kanan, he said.
Those from Jalan heading to Kuala Selangor are advised to use the left diversion at Jalan Melawati Jaya to Kuala Selangor town, he said and advised motorists to follow the traffic directions and instructions of the traffic policemen during the period.
About 40,000 Hindu devotees are expected to throng three temples in Kuala Selangor during Thaipusam, namely Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple Batu 2, Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple Bukit Belimbing and Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple Selangor River.
