December 13, KUALA LUMPUR — After more than a year that the Titiwangsa Lake Garden was closed to the public for improvement and beautification works, the recreation park will be reopened this Sunday (Dec 15).
The works, costing RM99.88 million, is one of the packages in the river beautification component of the River of Life (ROL) project.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s Project Implementation and Building Maintenance Department’s senior assistant director (Architect) Noor Fazlina Rosley said the park will be open to public daily from 6 am to 10 pm.
“We are planning to relaunch the park in 2020. But since the public is eager to resume using the park, the city mayor, Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan, reckoned that we should reopen the park slightly earlier in conjunction with the school holiday,” she told reporters here today.
She said the works which covered an area of 20.23 hectares, which commenced on Sept 1 last year, was fully completed on Oct 31, but there was a delay to reopen it due to some security aspects and improvement.

Noor Fazlina said among the new attractions are Banjaran Titiwangsa canopy (at the square), Laman Kerawang, children water park and a playground.
She explained that the park adopted an inclusive concept so that it could be enjoyed by all walks of life, including those with physical limitations such as people with disabilities.
“We have invited children with autism and cerebral palsy to try the playground, then we noted the comments from their parents and we tried to improve it. We want everyone to be able to use the park,” she said.
She also added that the soaring 100-metre high fountain would be one of the lake main attractions.
