KUALA LUMPUR, 14 June – SkyWorld Development Group in support of the King and Queen of Malaysia’s philanthropic initiatives lends a helping hand to homeowners whose houses were severely damaged during the Raub-Temerloh floods in the state late last year and early this year through the Al-Sultan Abdullah Foundation (YASA).

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah handed over the keys to seven recipients in Raub and Temerloh. The YASA house, which took 6 months to build, is fully sponsored. SkyWorld supported the initiative by donating RM70,000 in cash and in-kind by providing new furniture and home furnishings such as beds and mattresses, kitchen cabinets, dining tables and chairs and others.

His Majesty was accompanied by the Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah to tour the newly refurbished houses. The flood was one of the worst in Malaysia’s history. Properties in Raub and Temerloh were badly damaged and left many of its victims in dire situations while having to deal with the unimaginable aftermath. “We hope the families do not feel alone during these trying times,” said Datuk Seri Ng Thien Phing, Founder and Executive Chairman of SkyWorld as he was there personally to deliver the furniture and handouts to the affected families.

“As part of SkyWorld’s commitments towards sustainable living and social responsibility, we want to create a cohesive living community at large by supporting and giving back to those in need, irrespective of age, race and religion.” SkyWorld pledges to uphold its purpose to Make Living Better by encouraging better literacy and education, promoting better health and wellbeing, reducing poverty, improving community infrastructure and providing financial and support to those in need.

Inspired by the many years of Ng’s anonymous philanthropic initiatives, SkyWorld is in the midst of establishing its very own foundation with the objective of serving underprivileged communities. Ng said, “Being a community developer, SkyWorld aims to transform the city into a better place by providing a sustainable Sky Living experience, not just only to the communities we operate in, but also to reach out to those in need.”
