Setia Precast''s fourth win for delivering excellence in Industrialised Building System (IBS)

KUALA LUMPUR: Setia Precast Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of S P Setia Berhad, Malaysia’s leading property developer was awarded the prestigious Industrialised Building System (IBS) Special Award category for the fourth time at the Malaysia Construction Industry Excellence Award (MCIEA) 2017, this time around for its construction of the Seri Kasturi affordable apartments in Setia Alam. Last year, Setia Precast Sdn Bhd was recognised in the same category for the Seri Jati affordable apartments project. This recognition was also accorded to the group in 2011 and 2013.

Organised by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), the ceremony was graced by Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Minister of Works, Malaysia last Friday. Present to receive the award was Kow Choong Ming, Executive Vice President of S P Setia Berhad who accepted the honour from Datuk Ir. Ahmad’ Asri Abdul Hamid, Chief Executive of CIDB Malaysia. “We are greatly honoured to be receiving this award twice in a row as the MCIEA is the most credible and respectable award in the construction industry. For us to win in this IBS category for our affordable apartment project again speaks volume of our commitment towards excellence in delivering quality products” said Kow.

The IBS award is presented to those who deliver quality workmanship with high IBS score, innovative construction management with minimisation of construction wastage, cleanliness and high safety level, efficient usage of materials and labour and completion within schedule.

S P Setia’s affordable apartments in Setia Alam as well as Setia EcoHill in Semenyih are constructed using the precast construction system to ensure consistent quality on completion with lesser defects thus reduces rectification costs and inconveniences. This system also uses less labour as most of the structural components can be prefabricated off site. Other affordable apartments in Setia Alam which were built using the this system are Seri Baiduri, Seri Intan, Seri Jati, Seri Mutiara and Seri Pinang whereby all projects were well accepted by the purchasers upon vacant possession.

“We will continue to hold steadfast to our vision which is ‘To Be The Best In All We Do’ and we are truly proud that the Setia brand today is synonymous with excellence, reliability and the value creation that we bring to all our developments,” Kow commented. S P Setia’s affordable apartments have garnered the attention of many industry awards which recognise the quality of these projects and the value they provided to purchasers.
