Setia Foundation Concludes First “Sincerely, Setia Youth Synergy” Programme in Setia AlamImpian

SHAH ALAM – Aligned with its commitment in fostering unity and embracing diversity, S P Setia Foundation (Setia Foundation) – the charity arm of the S P Setia Bhd (Setia) – has held and concluded the inaugural Sincerely, Setia Youth Synergy programme, which was ongoing from July 1 this year, at its grand finale event on September 26, 2024, at Setia AlamImpian in Shah Alam.

The programme aims to empower and engage multiracial youths from local universities to contribute to the community through arts and culture initiatives, with a total of 126 participants who were made up of 46 youths from shortlisted universities namely Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and 80 school students from the adopted schools under the Setia Caring School Programme (SCSP).

S P Setia Foundation Chairman and S P Setia Bhd Independent Non-Executive Director YM Dato’ Tengku Marina Binti Tunku Annuar shared at the event, “This marks our first time in carrying out the illuminating Sincerely, Setia Youth Synergy programme, which is also supported by Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia (KPM) specifically Bahagian Sukan, Koku & Kesenian and Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Selangor, Johor, Pulau Pinang, Bahagian Pendidikan Khas (BPK). We are honoured and grateful to have worked closely with all the selected universities, youths and students who have shown their passion and dedication in ensuring the programme’s success.”

“Our inaugural Sincerely, Setia Youth Synergy programme is instrumental in Setia’s championing diversity, creativity and unity across vulnerable communities and beyond. We would like to thank all the participants and our very own Team Setia volunteers for painstakingly dedicating their time and efforts to the programme for the past three months,” she added. Also in attendance were S P Setia Foundation Trustee Michael Teoh and S P Setia Bhd Independent Non-Executive Director Datin Wan Daneena Liza Binti Wan Abdul Rahman.

With plenty of fun activities carried out throughout the event and decked in colourful, traditional garments, the participants showcased their creativity and talents through their highly entertaining and mesmerizing cultural performances at the grand finale event. The announced winners are:

• Winner: UiTM 2 and SK Semenyih Selangor (with cash prize of RM8,000, trophy and certificates)
• First runner-up: UiTM 1 and SK Bukit Tampoi (A), Selangor (with cash prize of RM5,000 and certificates)
• Second runner-up: USIM and SJK © Kg Baru Semenyih, Selangor (with cash prize of RM3,000 and certificates)
• Special performance winner (by specially abled students with learning disabilities and visual impairment): SKPK Princess Elizabeth, Johor (with cash prize of RM500 and certificates)
• Consolidation prize winners: UPNM and SJK (T) Ladang Rinching, Selangor, UTM and SK Taman Rinting 1, Johor, UUM and SK Batu Ferringhi, Penang, UniMAP and SJK (T) Tasek Permai, Penang (with cash prizes of RM500 and certificates).

After undergoing multiple assessments, the shortlisted universities received RM5,000 grant each to implement their projects, train the Setia Caring School Programme (SCSP) children, report the milestones, attend mentoring sessions and participated in a friendly competition at its finale event on September 26.
