Setia City Convention Centre expands to welcome more guests for MICE activities

SHAH ALAM, 2 November: Setia City Convention Centre located in Setia Alam expanded its convention space from 9,225m² to 21,025m² in total to cater to a growing demand for its meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) activities. In an exclusive preview for its business partners, customers and clients, Setia City Convention Centre hosted approximately 500 guests at its new boldly designed halls.

Guests were also impressed by the courteous and hospitable services provided by the staff of Setia City Convention Centre. “Over the past four years, demand for our convention centre facilities has been tremendously high. We have hosted more than 1,600 events spanning the spectrum of banquets such as weddings and corporate dinners, concerts, exhibitions, meetings and special events such as graduation ceremonies and motor industry roadshows with consistently positive feedback from our customers.

Most of them loved our clean and modern facilities, easy accessibility via various major highways and ample parking space as well as courteous customer service,” said Dato’ Khor Chap Jen, President and CEO of S P Setia in his welcome address. Setia City Convention Centre opened its doors for its first event on 3rd November 2012. The completion of the new halls is timely for the convention centre’s fourth-anniversary celebration.

While the existing convention centre caters to ballroom events and smaller meetings, the newly built space is able to cater for larger scale events such as exhibitions, motoring road shows, concerts and a larger capacity banquet dinner. With a sizable space of 11,800m² and specially designed to be a column-free hall with a height of 10m to 12m, the hall is dividable into two halls allowing event organizers to create a different form of space to suit their event requirements.

The hall would be able to accommodate up to 350 booths for exhibitions or 4,000 people in banquet style seating or up to 8,000 people in a theatre-style arrangement. In addition, the convention centre now boasts a total parking bays of 2,000. The brand new halls will also feature individual drop-off areas, VIP holding rooms, reception, organisers’ office and three meeting rooms.

At the preview, Media Prima also confirmed that Setia City Convention Centre will be the selected venue for its NTV7’s Golden Awards 2017 which recognises excellence in the production and performance of Malaysian Chinese television. It commended the venue for its flexibility and ability to cater to the need of the award ceremony. On top of that, the elegant interior design is befitting for an extravagant event such as the Golden Awards.

Located in the 240-acre commercial hub of Setia Alam called Setia City, Setia City Convention Centre was master-planned into the township to create value for its surrounding community. This is also in line with Setia’s development philosophy of LiveLearnWorkPlay where all four pillars of the philosophy are fulfilled in every Setia township. Fronting the convention centre is Setia City Park, a carefully manicured community park that is filled with verdant greenery.

The scenic view is one of the reasons patrons return to Setia City Convention Centre as a preferred venue for their events. To date, Setia City Convention Centre has received 50 forward bookings for 2017 and enquiries are streaming in rapidly.
