PUTRAJAYA, APRIL 12– S P Setia Berhad (S P Setia) signed a memorandum of understanding with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) today in a show of great support and commitment toward the national agenda of achieving a carbon-neutral nation by 2050.

The partnership will equip Setia properties and developments with solar, battery and electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure and support. The venture marks a great step forward in the sustainability imperative for both industry giants. Together they will work to create the profound impact needed to propel Malaysia toward its environmental commitments.

“We are thrilled to work with TNB in driving change to deliver value beyond housing. We aim to encourage sustainable living, and positively impact our communities,” said Datuk Choong Kai Wai, President & CEO of S P Setia Berhad.

S P Setia’s developments have always been intentionally designed to co-exist with nature that supports connection and growth. Parks, gardens and bodies of water synergise with the built environment to create healthy ecosystems.

TNB President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ir. Baharin Bin Din said this MoU would provide TNB an opportunity to help promote low carbon mobility as well as gain insights into property developers’ preferences and expectations, thus enabling TNB to identify its future strategic partners.

This collaboration is the next step in the Group’s ever-evolving concept of sustainability. For the Malaysian rakyat, S P Setia’s commitment today will translate into an increased awareness of the green agenda, numerous savings thanks to ready infrastructure and more efficient energy billings and finally, an easy transition into environmentally-conscious living.

TNB will support S P Setia’s projects with the following future-proof, green-ready solutions:

  • Solar ready – Natural energy reduces electricity consumption with savings passed on to the consumer
  • Battery ready – Energy stored from solar generation serves the needs of the household and township
  • EV ready – Charging infrastructure built to support green mobility choices

“Sustainability is our collective responsibility. For S P Setia, it is embedded into our culture and expressed through our developments. We embrace our duty to adopt, adapt and uphold the environmental agenda in meaningful ways that transfer savings, ease of living and innovative lifestyles to our customers,” Datuk Choong continued.
