6 August, KUALA LUMPUR – The Selangor government today introduced a new system, known as e-Charting, to facilitate the Land and District Offices (PTD) in resolving the issue of overlapping claims of land ownership, in line with its Smart Selangor development plan.

Selangor State Secretary Datuk Mohd Amin Ahmad Ahya said the system was aimed at facilitating the search of land records by counter staff, as well as to meet customer satisfaction.

Among the problems that had been faced were land management record which seemed to be outdated, and that it was still depending on old plans. The e-Charting system enables land applications and plans to be stored digitally, reliable and can be accessed from a single source.

I believe that this initiative will be of great benefit and improve the land record management in the state, he said in his speech at the launch of the Selangor e-Charting System at the Gombak PTD here today.

Gombak PTD has been chosen as the pioneer in the development of the system in Oct 2015, before it was officially implemented on Apr 1, 2016.

Meanwhile, Selangor Land and Mines Department director Datuk Zulkefli Khalid said the system was rolled out in stages beginning 2017.

e-Charting is a web-based Geographic Information System (GIS) application which aimed at facilitating the preparation of integrated plans, reports, updates and storage of geospatial data.
