24 October 2017, Kuala Lumpur – Leading property developer, S P Setia continues to lead the way in innovative ideas with the introduction of Bangsar Market by Jaya Grocer’ – vouched to be the biggest urban grocery market in Malaysia once it is open for business at KLEC Mall. Bangsar Market will be situated at Level 2, occupying the entire floor which measures 54,000 sq. ft and providing the urban sophisticate with an authentic urban grocery shopping experience. The space has been designed to provide a completely immersive atmosphere, transporting one to the simple gourmet markets that are typically found in the West.
“Inspiration for this concept came from internationally-renowned markets such as Camden Market and Borough Market in London and the Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne,” said Tony Ling, Divisional General Manager of S P Setia at the unveiling of the Bangsar Market by Jaya Grocer held at the Setia International Centre (SIC).
“The concept is further supported by the accessibility of Bangsar Market at KLEC with the many links to transport hubs as well as Midvalley City. S P Setia has invested approximately RM200 million to construct dedicated ramps and bridge including the unique two-¬tier internal road system allows traffic to enter and exit the various components of the integrated development via major roads such as the Federal Highway, New Pantai Expressway, Jalan Maarof and Jalan Bangsar” added Ling.
Bangsar Market is slated to be very unique because it breaks the mould by daring to be bigger and even more multi-faceted compared to other marketplaces in Klang Valley. It is laid out in a thoughtful organic way to allow for browsing while making it easy for shoppers to navigate the expansive supermarket which is complemented by dedicated sections for produce, meats and seafood.
Rather than being completely self-service, these sections will have service counters where customers can have their specific orders fulfilled. BANGSAR MARKET is pushing the envelope even further by having sections where customers will also be able to watch delicacies like sushi, smoked salmon and fresh pasta being prepared right before their eyes before purchasing these items.
The concept of urban grocery shopping truly represents an evolution of the traditional market into one that has the capacity to cater to modern needs. According to Ling, “There is also a challenge of catering to an unprecedented level of sophistication as there is a growing demand from both local and expatriate customers for special ingredients and delicacies. At Bangsar Market, we want to be able to serve all these customers.”
Bangsar Market will stand out from the current competition with the integration of F&B into the concept providing opportunities to enjoy a wide variety of dining options. This will include the dining-in concept which has become a Jaya Grocer signature; allowing diners to purchase their seafood or meats from the market and have it prepared on-site. There will also be a range of restaurants and cafes to cater to all tastes and budgets including an exclusive wines & spirits section that also offers craft beer.
In addition, to satiate local palates, those who love durian will be pleased to know that there will be a permanent durian buffet at Bangsar Market which will be serving the King of Fruits all year round and is slated to become very popular among the young urban sophisticates and hipsters.
“What will certainly resonate with die-hard foodies will be the food hall featuring a selection of Kuala Lumpur’s most renowned food stalls. Curating this section has been a real coup as many of these stalls have been best-kept secrets for generations, so this will be an opportunity to introduce them to a new audience,” chipped in Ling at the event.
Sitting on 25 acres of prime land, KLEC is the first integrated green luxury development anchored by prime commercial offices, high-end retail outlets, luxury service residences and residential towers.
The five-storey mall offers approximately 250,000 sq.ft of retail space encompassing an extensive yet carefully curated selection of restaurants, specialty stores and services that will cater to the needs and tastes of a discerning catchment, and is slated to be open in the first quarter of 2018.
