17 December, ISKANDAR MALAYSIA – Rumah Iskandar Malaysia’s 5th Year anniversary celebration, which was officially launched by YBhg Datuk Ismail Ibrahim, Chief Executive of Iskandar Regional Development of Authority (IRDA) at the home ground yesterday, sparked meaningful and wonderful memories amongst the management of the home and its 1,200 families.

RIM is a project developed by IRDA and operated by Prisma Harta Sdn Bhd (PHSB) to accommodate new residents of Iskandar Malaysia as a base for them to start a new life in this region.

“Conceptualised as a transit home initiative, RIM provides many families with temporary relief from relatively higher rental commitment in the market for properties of equivalent facilities while they search for residential properties of their choice in Iskandar Malaysia. For this purpose, the home has been very successful in helping many individuals and families to grow and increase their quality of living gradually,” said Datuk Ismail. Datuk Ismail added that this is a government initiative with the aim of building better and quality public housing and facilities for the higher quality of life for the people in Iskandar Malaysia. With such housing assistance, RIM has attracted more human capital and talent to this region as well as create business opportunities for local communities.

RIM was launched by our Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Abdul Razak on 15th January 2012 when 10 pioneer residents received their keys.

“RIM is for those who work within Iskandar Malaysia. The primary target group is for married individuals with monthly household income of RM8,000.00 and below. RIM is not for sale up to any point in the time throughout the tenancy. This concept also was first implemented in Malaysia,” said Datuk Ismail.

Rumah Iskandar Malaysia (RIM), comprises of 1,500 apartment units. The housing complex is strategically located on a 60-acre plot away from the hustle and bustle of the city, between Gelang Patah and Lima Kedai, close to the Second Link. The development also uses eco-friendly technologies such as rain harvesting and solar power and there are units with special features for the disabled such as wider doors and ramps.

“The get-together today is a platform for PHSB and IRDA to foster closer ties with the residents. This year’s celebration is even more meaningful as it is also show of thanks and appreciation to the residents for their support as we continue to celebrate the Rumah Iskandar Malaysia 5th Anniversary,” said Datuk Ismail.

Datuk Ismail also thanked the loyal residents who have been very supportive of RIM by being responsible tenants.
