test

27 September, SEREMBAN – The state government will continue the construction of People’s Housing Projects (PPR) of the Desa Sutera Labu, at Kirby Estate, Labu here, where the occupancy would prioritise its current and former estate workers, as launched by the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) government in April.

The State Human Resource, Plantation and Non-Islamic Affairs Committee chairman J. Arul Kumar, said the implementation of the project involving 200 units of houses and had been approved by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government will be an open tender process.

This project could benefit both current and former estate workers, so it will be continued with the priority given to current and former workers of Kirby Estate, he added.

He was responding to Datuk L. Manickam (BN-Jeram Padang) who asked on the state’s latest plan on PPR during the 14th Negeri Sembilan state assembly sitting here today.

The implementation of the PPR project is expected to aid the Kirby Estate residents, in particular the 43 families who are still living in the estate’s quarters there, he said.

Arul Kumar who is also Nilai Assemblyman said the state government had identified 11 suitable land sites to be developed as PPR housing.

The proposal for these sites have been submitted to the Federal Government for further review.

Meanwhile, its occupancy would be filled according to the approved location as well as the nearest living location to the PPR project, he said.

He said in response to Manickam’s supplementary question asking the state government to build more PPR houses for estate workers in Jempol, Tampin and areas surrounding Seremban.
