5 March, GUA MUSANG – About 1,000 Orang Asli residents in 10 villages around Pos Hendrop here appealed to the government to provide electricity supply to their area.
The villages involved are Kampung Layer, Regret, Palog, Sentok, Hendrop A, Hendrop B, Hendrop C, Plug, Cedar and Tembare.
Imam of Pos Hendrop mosque Arif Rami, 49, said, without electricity supply, the congregation had to perform their prayers in discomfort.
To make things worse, a generator provided by the Kelantan Islamic Affairs and Malay Customs Council (MAIK) constantly tripped and apart from additional cost, it would also take time to be repaired, he told reporters here today.
Pos Hendrop, established about 40 years ago, is located not far from Pos Brooke which has various facilities.
One of the residents, Kudin Alang, 33, said, although the community was accustomed to living without electricity since they were small, development needs to be implemented so that the community in the area would enjoy a more comfortable life.
We hope the government will pay attention to this issue, he said.
