Kota Kinabalu, 17 February 2017: PACIFICITY Shopping Mall has announced the latest addition to its list of confirmed anchor tenants – Harvey Norman, an Australia-based multi-national retailer with a wide range of world renowned brands in home furnishings and bedding, computers, communications and consumer electrical products. This will be the Australian brand’s first entry into East Malaysia.
A signing ceremony between PACIFICITY and Harvey Norman was held earlier today, witnessed by the Mayor of Kota Kinabalu, YBhg Datuk Yeo Boon Hai. Also present were Harvey Norman Asia Managing Director Mr. Kenneth Aruldoss, Pacific Sanctuary Holdings Executive Director Mr. K.P. Kuok and Managing Director Mr. Jonathan Wheeler.
Known for its variety and affordable prices, Harvey Norman will be strategically positioned as the home furnishings anchor in the shopping mall. The latter is a commercial component at PACIFICITY, a 25-acre mixed-use development offering fully-furnished residences, signature offices, luxury hotels and the shopping mall located along the coastal highway of scenic Likas Bay.
“PACIFICITY as an integrated lifestyle hub upholds a strong emphasis on creating a retail and entertainment destination that will cater to the needs of Sabahans and the tourist community. We are proud to be working with the established international retail brand name Harvey Norman, recognised as a leading homemaker destination globally and in Malaysia,” said Kuok.
Harvey Norman will be among other anchor tenants – TGV Cinemas’ IMAX® and Everrise Supermarket – who have confirmed occupancy at PACIFICITY Shopping Mall alongside leading international brands and local players in retail, services and food and beverages.
“Strengthening housing market conditions have encouraged owners to invest more in home improvement measures in recent years. Here in Kota Kinabalu, many homeowners have their furnitures and home wares shipped over from West Malaysia, which comes at substantial logistical costs. Harvey Norman, being a premium home improvement store now present in Kota Kinabalu makes for variety, value and convenience at an affordable price,” Wheeler said.
The Harvey Norman store at PACIFICITY Shopping Mall will span 43,000 sqft of retail space over 2 levels. The concept store will carry some of the most exclusive and comprehensive ranges of Electrical, IT, Furniture and Bedding products featuring designer showrooms, demonstration kitchens and interactive displays that will give an immersive shopping experience. Harvey Norman places a strong emphasis on providing value to its customers and delivering a consistently excellent customer experience across its platforms.
“This store has everything for creating or renovating a perfect home and entire families can spend their afternoons scouring the many sections and displays for the best deals. Shoppers, especially those from Kota Kinabalu, can enjoy the convenience of shopping for their home within a mere 5 to 15-minute drive,” said Wheeler.
PACIFICITY Shopping Mall will comprise 4 levels of retail space spanning 620,000 sqft and 2,500 parking bays to be completed in the first phase. The shopping mall will cater to all – young families, expatriates and working professionals.
“We are delighted about finally moving into Kota Kinabalu. Harvey Norman is all about providing the ultimate customer experience and we want to offer something different to Sabahans. We are committed to providing home owners in Kota Kinabalu the best deals to cater to all budgets and styles,” said Aruldoss.
PACIFICITY Shopping Mall comes under the first phase of the project slated to be completed by end-2018. Construction is well underway with the topping out of the residential tower to be completed by mid-2017. Meanwhile, other components set to be delivered by 2020 as part of PACIFICITY’s master development plan include Hotel Jen Kota Kinabalu, featuring the newest hotel concept from the Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts Group.
