14 April, JOHOR BAHRU – In conjunction with Earth Day Celebration 2018, UMLand Seri Austin will be opening the Seri Austin – Setia Bridge linking Seri Seri Austin Township to Setia Business Park, Eco Business Park and Seelong. The opening ceremony will be officiated by Tuan Haji Amran Bin A. Rahman, Mayor of Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) witness by KK Wong, CEO of UMLand Seri Austin cum Group Director of UMLand Township.
The dual carriageway bridge extends approximately 68 meters is an alternative route that could reduce travel time from Seri Austin to Kempas old road and Senai Airport.
Furthermore, the bridge counld indirectly disperse traffic from Kempas and Senai (vice versa) towards city center via Johor Bahru Eastern Dispersal Link Expressway (EDL).
In the same event, other than pedaling around the township, several activities lined up for the day are EM Mudball Making Competition for Primary Schools, EM Mudball Throwing into the Seri Austin Lake, Push Bike Fun Race for children age 2 to 7 years and BMX Demonstration.
During the event, five primary schools took part in a competition to create EM mudballs namely SK Taman Daya 2, SK Taman Mount Austin, SJK (C) Foon Yew 5, SJK (T) Ladang Tebrau and Sekolah Kebangsaan Kempas.
This is part of the company’s commitment to raise public awareness of the importance of creating sustainable environment to the youngsters and Seri Austin has been actively promoting healthy lifestyle by organising a range of CSR activities, recycling efforts and green initiatives.
“Through these interactive activities, we hope to bring the communities together and encourage them to adopt eco-friendly habits and at the same time, we want to promote a healthy lifestyle via cycling and spending quality time with family and friends” said KK Wong.
To preserve the environment, Seri Austin has been actively practicing a sustainable eco-friendly environment by implementing the Effective Microorganism (EM) Technology since 2009. One of the applications of this technology is using EM Mudballs to maintain the cleanliness of Seri Austin’s lakes. The EM Mudballs are thrown into the lake instead of using harsh chemicals to clean our lakes and keep our environment clean and healthy.
“Our passion and commitment towards green initiative has led us to be recognized as the first Smart Healthy City and Communities Township in 2014 and a model township in Iskandar Malaysia, ” he added.
Another initiative is providing the community with designed “Smoke Free Zones”at Seri Austin’s Townparks where families can engage into healthy activities without worrying about hazards of second hand smoke.
The Earth Day celebration in Seri Austin is held annually to cultivate a healthy lifestyle within the community and it is supported by Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (MBJB), Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) and Happy Riders Connect.
