20 January, KOTA KINABALU – The government would build more affordable homes in Sabah to enable the people, especially those in the middle-income group (M40), to own a house, said state Minister of Housing and Local Government, Datuk Hajiji Noor.
He said the people should grab the opportunity by being aware of every housing open day programme for the sale of houses such as those organised by PR1MA Corporation Malaysia (PR1MA), to enable them to know the set conditions for eligibility, and to register themselves and purchase a house.
“The prices offered for PR1MA houses are better and lower by 10 to 15 per cent than those built by the private sector.
“This is because PR1MA is a government programme to help the people own a house,” he said when met by reporters after viewing the PR1MA Open Day programme, here, today.
The event, held at The Klagan Regency, 1Borneo Hypermall until tomorrow from 9am to 5pm, features new housing development of PR1MA @ Menggatal, and Sabahans, especially those in the M40 group, who wish to own a house are encouraged to attend it.
Hajiji said the PR1MA @ Menggatal housing project with a community lifestyle living concept offered 1,200 units priced at RM243,000 to RM300,000 for unit sizes of 850 sq ft to 1,000 sq ft.
He said the project would begin soon and was expected to be completed within three years.
In a press statement issued, PR1MA said the Open Day event served as a one-stop facility to make it easier for the potential house buyers to gather all the related information needed through the staff of PR1MA, financial institutions and other relevant agencies on duty at the event.
The PR1MA @ Menggatal project, equipped with various facilities such as closed-circuit television cameras, a multipurpose hall, nursery and surau, is among those open for sale in the first quarter of 2018.
Other projects to sell their units in the first three months of this year are PR1MA @ Borneo Cove (999 units), PR1MA @ Kota Marudu (360), PR1MA @ Ranggu (1,300), PR1MA @ Kinarut Selatan (502), PR1MA @ Pusat Bandar Sandakan (750) PR1MA @ Kota Marudu 2 (360).
“Over 5,000 units at an estimated gross development value of RM1.25 billion will be sold in the first quarter of 2018 for those in the M40 group in Sabah who are keen on quality housing equipped with various facilities to suit their lifestyle,” said PR1MA in the statement.
