Penang, 16 February 2017 – More than 250 press members had a whale of a time during the Media Night 2017 hosted by Eastern & Oriental Berhad (E&O).
The invited guests filled the hotel’s grand ballroom hallway and exchanged pleasantries over bottomless cocktails and canapes.
They then indulged in a sumptuous buffet that included slow cooked lamb, sushi and salmon picata, just to name a few. The God of Prosperity and lion dance were there to keep the guests entertained. There was also a Media Idol singing competition featuring ‘songsters’ from the industry, where the top five winners walked away with free hotel stay vouchers and buffet dinner vouchers.
In the end, Aw Beng Li from Guang Ming Daily beat a field of 16 participants to win herself a two-night stay at E&O Hotel’s Victory Annexe studio suite, while Tan Sin Chow from The Star and Shalaby Shahrin from Harian Metro came in second and third respectively.
Leang Yit Yee from Nanyang Siang Pau and Loh Hoay Hoon from Kwong Wah Yit Poh each walked away with vouchers of buffet dinner for two at E&O Hotel’s Sarkies, while Tan got himself Lone Pine Hotel’s Chef Kaiseki set for two after being voted as the most popular singer by the crowd.
The group also gave away 20 lucky draw prizes. The grand prize – one-night stay at E&O Hotel Victory Annexe studio suite – went to Lee Wai Tuck from Nanyang Siang Pau.
In her welcoming speech, E&O group corporate strategy director Lyn Chai thanked the media for their enduring support and hoped for Year of Rooster would be a productive one.
E&O group hospitality and lifestyle director Michael Saxon said he was glad to see the overwhelming turnout of pressmen at the event.
