 Mah Sing’s second Career Day attracts over 250 respondents

Kuala Lumpur, 7 June – Mah Sing Group Berhad (Mah Sing) hosted its 2nd Career Day which attracted an overwhelming response in M City, Jalan Ampang. The event was decked out in a Monopoly theme which reflects the exciting journey of careers within the property development industry.

The Career Day aimed to provide a platform for fresh graduates and aspiring individuals to discover the roles that employees carry out. It was also an excellent opportunity for the attendees understand Mah Sing and find out about possible employment opportunities.

Mah Sing Group Managing Director, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong Hoy Kum said that    “We work actively to inspire the younger generation to grow the Company to greater heights. With an active learning and development department within Human Resources to conduct training, every employee, from non-executives to senior management, will be able to further develop their technical and soft skills to achieve optimal potentials, resulting in the continuous success of the company”.

Mah Sing Group Chief Human Resources and Organisational Development Officer, Peter Ling Shuoy Huah said that “Mah Sing’s team is bound together by success and built on further success in recent years, our achievements are unparalleled. We are transforming, it is a move to bring us closer to be a true multinational global company. We have embarked on a clear and systematic career progression to reach the highest level in career advancement in a company.”   

During the event, attendees were given a chance to learn about the overall roles and responsibilities within the company such as Marketing, Sales, Accounts, Finance, Projects, Contracts, Procurement, Corporate Communications, Customer Service and more. The Head of Departments of each department shared their experiences and their roles in the operations of the company. Through this initiative, Mah Sing hopes to assist attendees in identifying their interest in various departments.

The Learning & Development Department also introduced the L.E.A.D. Project, a Mah Sing talent development programme aimed to develop high potential individuals and built the talent pipeline to groom potential staff into successors for key roles in the company. Consisting of personal, management, leadership and teambuilding programmes, it provides a well-rounded development for all participants. Individuals can also apply to be part of the next L.E.A.D starting in August 2016. To date, the Group has completed 3 L.E.A.D projects and have produced 53 graduates who are now based in the various departments within the Group. Participants were very happy with the project and a strong bond has been formed among the participants of the programme.

The Group prioritises learning and development to help our employees to instil a culture of continuous improvement. Various training are held to provide a platform for employees to discover and realise their full potential and strength. In 2015, our employees had more than 27,000 training hours, a significant increase from 12,000 hours in 2014. These training hours are a testament that the Group is committed to our employees’ growth.
