The 28 transplanted trees at M Centura, Sentul

14 September, SENTUL – M Centura, Mah Sing Group Berhad’s (Mah Sing) latest development in Sentul, has taken its first steps in beautifying its landscape by transplanting 28 Hopea Odorata trees aged above 10 years and preserving a 15 years Samanea Saman (also known as rain tree). The tree transplant initiative is in line with the Group’s tagline, ‘Reinvent Spaces. Enhance Life’ and M Centura promises to provide its future residents with a refreshing green living experience, right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

Mah Sing engaged the award winning landscape consultant of its M Centura development for the planning and execution of the tree transplant project. The initial stages of the tree transplant involved the pruning and trimming of the tree branches, excavation of new planting holes, and trenching to dig the root ball of the selected trees.

The workers envelop the root ball with coco fibre to protect the tree roots during the transplant process

The team then proceeded with the enveloping of the root ball with coco fibre to protect the root and observing the condition of the trees for a month before transplanting it to the new site. The last phase of the process ended with staking, nursing and maintenance for the newly transplanted trees to ensure that the trees are in good condition.

Come the time for M Centura’s handover in 2021, the trees will be fully grown, along with 450 other trees that will be planted and will act as filters from the heat and carbon emissions of the city. The 15-year Samanea Saman that was preserved is also situated right in front of the gated entrance of M Centura and will be one of the identical icons for the residents.

Reducing carbon footprint
M Centura is Mah Sing’s first project in Sentul. The freehold residential development with indicative built up from 646 sqft to 1,001 sqft is just 5km to Kuala Lumpur City Center, and priced from RM328,000. M Centura has easy access to major highways including the DUKE Highway (just 1.5km away), Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) and Karak Highway.

The development is also strategically located near public transportation infrastructures which include Sentul Timur LRT Station (2.4km away), as well as 3 KTM stations which are the Sentul, Kampung Batu and Batu Kentonmen, just 2.5km-3.5km away. In addition to its affordable price range and strategic location, the development itself has a total of 1-acre of resort facilities which include an Olympic-length swimming pool, laundry bar, co-working space and a dual floating gym which is one of the highlights of the development, as well as other facilities.

As part of Mah Sing’s commitment to developing homes that enhance lives, one of the steps is to maintain the environment in and around its developments to benefit not only its residents but the surrounding community as well.

Rohana, a resident of a neighbouring community around M Centura said, “This kind of transplanting programmes by developers are great initiatives to ensure the beauty of our environment is preserved so that our future generations can experience what we had back then.”

Mah Sing’s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Ho Hon Sang said, “In all that we do, we want to first, enhance life. Aside from building quality homes, we want to be a responsible developer that cares for the environment of the surrounding communities around our developments. With over 450 new trees, 28 of which were transplanted and 1 preserved, combined with environmental-friendly features such as rainwater harvesting system, Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations for hybrid and electric cars, and other premium facilities such as centralised garbage disposal system and laminated safety glass panels that reduce heat and noise, we believe that M Centura can enhance the lives of both residents and those around it for generations to come.”
