21 DECEMBER, KUALA LUMPUR – Mah Sing Group Berhad (Mah Sing) has emerged as one of the Gold winners of the Excellence Awards under the category of companies with less than RM2 Billion in market capitalisation for the National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) 2021. Mah Sing’s win stands as a testament to the Group’s firm commitment towards accountability and excellence in corporate reporting to ensure sustainable value creation for all its stakeholders.
The Mah Sing Group Berhad’s annual report for the financial year ending December 31, 2020 was the inaugural Integrated Annual Report. The group’s ambitions to deliver greater strategic reporting beyond financial performance are aligned with the adoption of internationally recognised best practise. The goal of launching an integrated report is to highlight the group’s value generating capabilities in the short, medium, and long term, as well as the group’s resilience and future preparation in an increasingly dynamic and complex macro-operating environment.
Mah Sing’s Founder and Group Managing Director, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong Hoy Kum said, “We feel that by commencing on an integrated report, we may establish and embrace a forward-thinking culture by outlining our core strategy for Mah Sing’s future business goals. We’re also improving our value creation methodology to better understand the important issues and concerns that arise at each level of our operations.
With the robust foundation established in our first integrated report, we aim to achieve closer integration between the Guiding Principles and Content Elements in the upcoming FY2021 report to provide a richer narrative of Mah Sing’s value creation narrative. Key focus areas going forward include adopting a multi-capital lens in our narrative, articulating how stakeholders influence business decisions and embedding environmental and social considerations into the strategic disclosures, added Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong Hoy Kum.
Mah Sing Group Berhad will continue to produce quality integrated reporting on an annual basis in order to strengthen the company’s relationship with investors. In addition, to gain a better understanding of our business model, strategy, and long-term perspective, as well as the stock and capital flow prospects.
NACRA guidelines are continuously reviewed and enhanced to ensure that the assessment standards for annual reports are in line with current requirements and the latest global developments.
NACRA was jointly organised by Bursa Malaysia Bhd, Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), and continues to be a force for spurring continuing excellence and improvement in corporate reporting in Malaysia, in line with its theme “Towards Accountability and Excellence”.
