Kuala Lumpur: As an appreciation gesture to Mah Sing Group Berhad’s (Mah Sing) M Club members, the Group hosted exclusive screenings for over 1,000 members to the award-winning film “The Kid from The Big Apple” in Klang Valley, Penang, Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu. M Club members are purchasers of Mah Sing homes since the Group started the business 22 years ago.
The movie which premiered on 10 March 2016 has been reported to be well-received in the box office. Filmed entirely in Malaysia, the movie tells the story of a born and bred New Yorker, Sarah, who was sent to live in Malaysia with her grandfather when her mother had to relocate to China on a work assignment. Initially, Sarah hid her insecurities under a cloak of bravado, but the movie evolved into a heartwarming tale of love, learning and acceptance about culture and traditions.
Mah Sing’s Group Managing Director Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong Hoy Kum said, “When I first saw the script, I knew that this is a movie that I will be proud to support. As a Malaysian entrepreneur myself, I am very happy with the innovation and the hard work that was put into producing this film. ”
“Mah Sing’s portion of the profits from the movie will be channeled towards Mah Sing Foundation to aid those in need. Hence, by watching “The Kid From Big Apple”, movie goers are able to enjoy a heart-warming movie while doing a good deed. We sincerely hope that our M Club members will encourage their family and friends to support this award-winning film,” added Tan Sri Leong.
