Haemodialysis unit patients to benefit from new dialysis machine.
10 January, KUALA LUMPUR – Kidney failure does not happen overnight. It is a result of a gradual loss of kidney function. When your kidneys can no longer take care of your body’s needs, dialysis treatment becomes one of the options for those diagnosed with kidney failure. In an effort to help patients have access to effective treatments, Mah Sing Foundation is committed to lend a helping hand to support those in need by contributing a dialysis machine to Hospital Tanjung Karang in Selangor recently.
Dato’ Indera Syed Norulzaman bin Syed Kamarulzaman, Chairman of Mah Sing Foundation presented the dialysis machine to Dr. Mohd Zamri bin Wagiman @ Saim, Director of Hospital Tanjung Karang. Present during the handing over ceremony was Chairman, Board of Visitors of Hospital Tanjung Karang, En. Jailani Bin Arshad and employees of the hospital.
Dato’ Indera Syed Norulzaman bin Syed Kamarulzaman, Chairman of Mah Sing Foundation shared, “Mah Sing Foundation believes in investing for a better tomorrow, which we can achieve if we work together to assist those in need by supporting purposeful programmes and causes such as this. I would like to thank Hospital Tanjung Karang and their Haemodialysis Unit for all they have done to help these patients and to continue your good work to help those in need.”
“I was informed that there are approximately 54 patients receiving dialysis treatment at Hospital Tanjung Karang and that more dialysis machines are required in order to effectively treat each patient. A patient undergoing dialysis treatment typically visits the hospital a minimum of 3 times a week for 4 hours. The addition of this new dialysis machine will allow the hospital to treat more patients and improve their quality of life.” said Dato’ Indera Syed Norulzaman.
Dr. Mohd Zamri bin Wagiman @ Saim, Director of Hospital Tanjung Karang said, “The dialysis machine filters a patient’s blood to remove excess water and waste products when the kidneys are damaged and dysfunctional. The function of the dialysis machine is to replace the function of a failed kidney. The machine will be placed under the hospital’s Haemodialysis Unit where it provides haemodialysis treatment in end-stage renal failure. The unit also provides a continuous renal replacement therapy for end-stage renal failure and nephrology clinics for patients undergoing dialysis and also for referral patients.”
Dr. Mohd Zamri bin Wagiman @ Saim continues “This is an extremely generous donation from Mah Sing Foundation for which the hospital is very thankful. We are always so grateful to our kind-hearted supporters who go above and beyond to help enhance the hospital facilities as this will make a huge difference to all our patients seeking dialysis treatment.”
