PENANG, 29 May: Eco World Development Group Berhad (EWB) recently celebrated EcoFestival 2016 in one of its township developments — Eco Terraces from 28-29 May 2016. Themed “Light Up the World”, the celebration was in honour of World Environment Day 2016. A similar celebration will be held in Eco Meadows this weekend (4-5 June 2015).
Dato’ S. Rajoo, Chief Operating Officer of EWB said the Group is delighted to be able to bring EcoFestival 2016 following a successful EcoFestival 2015. “We are excited to be able to continue with our EcoFestival activities in conjunction with World Environment Day as we feature even more educational activities on how to be more environmentally conscious,” he said.
Highlights in Eco Terraces and Eco Meadows included a 3D Projection Mapping show titled “A Beautiful Journey of Nature”. This animated projection features the changing seasons projected onto a backdrop made out of recycled materials.
On top of these highlights, EcoFestival 2016 will feature educational workshops as well as electric and recycled playgrounds which showcased things like how human power could generate electricity and what we could do to reduce waste by recycling and upcycling. Try out bicycle or human hamster wheel to see how much electricity you can generate from pedalling or running.
EcoFestival 2016 at Eco Terraces and Eco Meadows also offers visitors plenty of photo opportunities with the art sculptures from The One Academy. This features a series of green sculptures made from recycled materials.
Rajoo said the Group was excited to be able to provide these students with the opportunity and platform to encourage their creativity further by working with recycled materials and turning them into art.
Apart from the playgrounds, workshops on simple upcycling projects were also held. Visitors to EcoFestival 2016 at Eco Terraces were also kept busy with other various green creativity home decoration workshops/DIY ideas. Visitors to EcoFestival 2016 can also look forward to a free test drive in a Renault Twizy electric car.
The EcoFestival 2016 is held over two consecutive weekends of 28 & 29 May and 4 & 5 June from 5pm to 9pm at the EcoWorld Galleries listed below:

“With a simple theme titled Light Up the World, we hope EcoFestival 2016 will not only be an enjoyable and enriching experience for our visitors but raise public awareness to take environmental action where possible besides protecting planet earth and nature, ” said Rajoo.
In conjunction with the state government’s new waste management campaign for waste segregation, Eco North will be organizing a recycling campaign competition effective from 1 June to 10 July to create public awareness towards the environment. The public can send recycled items such as paper, corrugated carton boxes, newspapers, aluminum cans & plastic bottles to three of its township developments — Eco Terraces, Eco Meadows & Macalister.
