KL Structure Plan 2020 Not Cancelled, says Federal Territories Minister

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 March: The government has not cancelled the Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan 2020, instead is improving it, said Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

He said the plan had yet to be gazetted in view of still much more room for improvement taking into consideration the dynamic development taking place in the federal capital.

“My ministry is going over the plan with a fine tooth comb and it is still at the evaluation stage as Kuala Lumpur is a small city which requires holistic planning.

“This is in line with my ministry’s aim to develop Kuala Lumpur to be a world class city by 2020,” he said when winding up debate on the motion of thanks for the royal address for his ministry in the Dewan Rakyat today.

The KL Structure Plan 2020 was launched in May 2008 and was scheduled to be gazetted on July 1, 2012, but was postponed till now for the fine tuning.

Recently, Tengku Adnan had stressed that his ministry would not approve the plan so long as it did not get the blessings of all 11 MPs in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.
