JOHOR BAHRU, May 8 — The Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) is organising the Iskandar Malaysia Accolades (TIMA) to recognise and reward real estate related practices, especially those that contribute to sustainability and social equity.
Its Chief Executive, Datuk Ismail Ibrahim said that the inaugural TIMA awards would be specialised and unique in its approach as it took into account the viewpoints and perspective of the community and public rather than the project owners themselves.
“The nomination is open to both local and foreign companies and we are quite open in our selection of the nominees. There is no discrimination and we are not favouring any developer just because they are a multinational company with a huge investment.
“Even though they are a big company, it might not necessary make them entitled to this award. A project from a local developer may as well be selected because the criteria that we have put in placed are based on our screening,” he told a press conference here today.
Ismail said a mix of foreign and local projects would ultimately bring forth a chance for both parties to exchange knowledge and information regarding local and international standards that had been acknowledged and accepted.
“The awards will only be given to completed projects, at least by phases, and have been operating for at least one year,” he said.
There are six categories for the TIMA awards — the Most Balanced Community, Most Livable Residence, Most Conductive Workplace, Most Happening Place, Most Impactful Investment, and Most Relaxing Environment.
The winners will receive a sponsorship package valued at RM100,000 (for Platinum), RM50,000 (for Gold), and RM20,000 (for Silver).
TIMA will be held at Jen’s Hotel, Puteri Harbour on May 15.
