SINGAPORE, 15 July – South Beach Consortium Pte Ltd, a joint venture between IOI Properties Group Berhad (IOIPG) and City Developments Limited (CDL), has recently announced its collaboration with Marriott International to introduce JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach.
The JW Marriott brand is known for fostering a sense of well-being for its guests through state-of-the-art fitness centres and award-winning spas and imaginative cuisines. The 634-room luxury hotel designed by prominent French designer Philippe Starck will offer the warm authentic service and crafted culinary experiences that the JW Marriott brand is known for.
The hotel, being strategically located on Beach Road bordering Singapore Central Business District and in close proximity to the Marina Bay entertainment and business districts, is set to attract corporate and leisure travellers alike.
The hotel is part of the South Beach integrated development, which uniquely integrates 4 conserved historic buildings on site with 2 new towers. In addition to the luxury hotel, there are 190 luxury residences, approximately 510,000 square feet (sq ft) of Grade A office space, 32,000 sq ft of retail space and an approximately 29,000 sq ft club.
This prime location is well-served by major arterial roads and is directly linked to the Esplanade MRT station and City Hall MRT Interchange for easy accessibility and convenience.
South Beach has been awarded 2 Green Mark Platinum Awards in 2012 as it successfully integrates sustainable green technology and environmental-friendly features into its architectural concept.
One of its most significant green features is its microclimatic wave-like canopy that covers the open spaces, providing shelter and drawing cool air currents to the areas beneath the canopy, resulting in efficient natural ventilation, thermal comfort and solar shading.
Other sustainable features of South Beach include the solar thermal panels, waste-heat recovery system and rainwater collection. Furthermore, sky gardens and vertical green walls planted with lush foliage help to minimise the urban heat island effect.
With the combination of its unique location, distinctive architectural design and the global luxury brand of JW Marriott, South Beach is poised to be a distinguished hotel of choice in Singapore.
